JROB wouldn't allow McDaniels to destroy this team.

McDaniels would be the perfect fit for MM. But it will never happened because a) AAS loves her some Mularkey, and b) McDaniels will go deep into the playoffs and we won't wait around for him

This sham of a HC search is about to expose itself.

Oh well, at this rate at least 3 AFCS teams will be looking for new coaches at the end of the season

Sounding like some classic Fisher/Whisenhunt stubbornness to me. I mean, the results speak for themselves. 41 total points through 3 weeks (Atlanta scored more than that last night alone). And what's even more concerning, Mariota is looking much, much, much worse than he did all of last year.

Maybe this scheme could work. But it's certainly not working at the moment. There's just no denying that. Playcalling has been bad and far too predictable imo. Also, offensive talent is still very lacking despite finally, FINALLY getting not only one but two good RBs. Sharpe is a nice addition but I'm not convinced he'll ever be anything more than a solid #2.

I thought the DGB trade was silly at the time and I am still of that opinion. The guy obviously is a work in progress and the bust potential is pretty high. But he has a skill set no other receiver on this team has (aside from maybe AJ, who could be done after this year anyway). The guy is a legit RZ weapon just due to his size and athleticism alone. I really didn't even hate the idea of trading him. It's just the return we got was ridiculously underwhelming considering this was the 40th overall selection only a year ago. And everyone knew he was going to take some time to develop.

Well Mularkey has had three chances already. So that's a pretty big difference.

We obviously need WR help, regardless of who the HC is. McDaniels as a possibility is at least a season away at this point. So I don't really see "we don't have the right receivers for his system" as a great excuse as to why not to hire him.

Enlighten me a bit here. I'm no fan of this scrub coaching staff but I see the term "this scheme" used a lot without specifics.

This team plays out of a variety of formations and different personnel packages. Which of these are you seeing as being ineffective?

Titans were 28th in scoring last year. They were 28th in passing and 26th in rushing. 31st in total yards.

Now, they’re 24th in passing and 8th in rushing. 21st in yards. Scoring is the only stat they are currently lower at 31st.

If expectations were that this would be a top 15 offense three games into the season, I think expectations were too high. The Titans have four guys on the offense that were starting on it last year.

Eliminate the huge blunders by Mariota. Keep Wright and Walker on the field. Hope the OL gels and all the young guys get better with experience. If the defense continues to play well, I think the Titans win 4-5 games which is about what I expected.

Yeah but don't you think Mariota's increase in turnovers are due this scheme? fumbles and picked balls w/ DB's sitting on the short route tree?

DB's are not respecting our WRs because they are not worth respecting. Add Wright to the mix and maybe that changes. We'll see. Walker is a deep threat if he gets mismatched.

The fumbles are Mariota "trying to do too much" which is 100% on him. I can't blame scheme for his fumbles.

Bottom line, Mariota has to see more success downfield for teams to respect the passing game. And Mularkey has to be willing to throw it deep even if it's just to keep defenses honest.

Scheme last year sucked as well. And we had possibly the least talented offensive roster in the league as well. I wasn't expecting this team to be a top 15 offense. But they should be able to put up more than 16 points in a game. And you certainly expect more than 10 points against a defense that was historically bad coming into this game, even sans Wright and Walker. The predictability of this offense isn't doing Mariota any favors in the blunder department. He's forcing things and at times trying to do too much to spark a stagnant offense.

I do feel bad for this defense. They are playing their butts off despite our secondary issues. If the offense was even halfway competent they'd be even better.

which is part of Mularkey's "scheme". Short routes, frequent shifts on run plays. Really no threat of a ball exchange outside of 10 yards from LOS. And Mariota is trying to "do too much" because the D takes away the short passes easy.

So we agree that Mularkey has to get a deep threat to balance this out. We dumped DGB and Hunter and although they are soft/dumb, they were the only real deep threat we had.
