I thought a signing bonus was fully guaranteed... so even if he gets injured he would still be entitled to that bonus

It seems as if both sides are too dug in at this point ...

 

Why should SD be allowed to hold back millions? Millions on which they will invest and collect intrest on?

Bosa should get his money today so he can begin making his money work for him

 

Why should Bozo get any better deal than what was agreed to in the collective bargaining agreement?

 

But from what I understand it is the norm to not get it all upfront.

It's a negotiation. Each side needs to make concessions. If SD really has increased the % of bonus paid this year substantially upto 85% (don't know what the original offer was) and bosa isn't willing to budge at all ...

I get that it is best for Bosa to get all of his money upfront, but if other players aren't getting it, then why should bosa?

 

I'm not really on either side of this argument.

But I think it would be in Bosas best interest to agree. It may not be exactly what he wants, but it's rare that any player gets the exact contract they want... they take a contract that both sides can live with.

But Bosa will be hurting himself in the long run. He is about to miss out on a lot of money. Way more than what he would make in interest or pay on taxes

Perhaps Bosa is in debt to the mob? Borrowed too many drugs from them? Maybe he owes them the entirety of his signing bonus, and the mob won't wait around for the rest of it. So it could be a life or death situation for Bosa...

 

Everyone has things they hate about their job...Life isn't fair. You are getting paid millions to do something you love part of the year and for a relatively short time. Not to mention if u play it right, life after football will have opportunities. Yes, Bosa (whether worth it or not) should be paid fairly to where he was drafted, but he is really hurting his stock right now not only with the Chargers, but the league...thank god it's not our problem
