You know I don't know about that, I think the team will without a doubt at least give this staff 3 years (Mularkey's contract term). Why? PK wrote an article on it, all the swing and misses this team has done at the HC position left the team with a rather large bill in the form of departed coaches' salaries. It was one of the reasons he hypothesized why the team hired Mularkey in the first place instead of a higher profile candidate. He came cheap while allowing the team to balance out its books.

In any case my thoughts on the matter are, you can't say the team would have done better with a different HC at the position because to do so is also saying another HC would have wanted the team rebuilt identically as Mularkey. I don't know if this Smash Mouth approach will work or not but what I do know if we have 2 RBs in the top 5 in preseason (yes I know it's preseason but I'd rather trend up than down) while one of our preseason opponents were one of the best at stopping the run. Whether you like the HC or not (and I did not like the hire), I honestly would say at this point the guy deserves the benefit of the doubt. It is currently undeniable the team is trending up. The amount of excitement around the rebuilt team is undeniable, the identity of this team, toughness, and mindset is undeniable, the competitive drive of this team is undeniable, and the accountability of the players is undeniable. These are all things that were severely lacking over the last decade. So at a bare minimal, I don't need to see 10 wins. Sure I want the team to go out and win every game, but after a decade of bad football philosophy it's going to take more than one year to turn this around so I want to see indications of the the team trending up. If the team carries its current effort throughout the season and never show any quit but grit, personally I say love the coaching staff or hate them they will probably be around at least 3 years and will deserve at a bare minimal that much.

The team has restored by excitement with everything that's gone on til now

After last year I was losing serious interest and wasn't looking forward to 2016 at all, but with Robinson in charge I think I can take another dose of Mularkey

So far we've seen the offense run some unusual stuff for the Titans and I like it. Mularkey is living up to the Exotic Smashmouth offense he talked about when he was rehired. All summer long writers and analysts were teasing him for it but so far its been working, we might have a winning combination with our HC and GM

Even though we sucked last year, I was excited to tune in because with MM8 we moved the ball, got 1st downs and even put up points! This year the attitude does seem different and JRob went out and addressed major concerns on the offense; O line, RBs and WR. I'm excited to see the running game and new WRS with MM8.

I was not a fan of Mularkey at all when he was hired, but I'm starting to come around.

I just hope that he won't be too stubborn in running the ball. If it's not there, then let MM take over. He is capable of it ... I think we saw him let MM do that in the last PS game, so that is a good sign

Fry, I think the point here is you'll rather the team trend up rather than down. No one knows exactly what this team will do in the regular season, but right now in this moment there is nothing showing us this team will not be considerably more competitive come the regular season. I don't know why this is, but many people refuse to acknowledge positive trends because they didn't get their choice of HC. Mularkey certainly wasn't mine, but the team is trending up. The team may flop in the regular season but the team may also ball out come the regular season. Right now the point we are making is until regular season comes no one knows, but right now we can have a "cautiously" positive outlook towards regular season because we aren't seeing anything else saying otherwise. Kind of like Tajae Sharpe appears to be a legitimate WR because nothing is showing otherwise. I'd take positive trends in meaningless games over bad trends in meaningless games any day....

Of course until real games are played as you said lol...

Agreed. If any WR is running a reverse, it should be Wright. Although he's hurt, so somebody had to fill his role for that play.

Best way to stop a pass rush is to run it up their a$$ . I think we may have a running game now fellas. Mariota can have a little fun now. :beerbang: Far cry from last year.

To the OP's point about Fowler as a lead blocker:

Henry had an amazing run where he pressed up inside the hole and then cut back hard and got up field for a ~10 yard gain. I thought it was unbelievable vision by Henry when I was watching it live.

Well I went back and watched the broadcast of the game and noticed that all Henry did was follow his FB. Jalston went up into the hole, saw the LB and stoned him with a great block. All Henry did was cut off his FB and turned it into a great gain.

All of that is very simple, High School football 101, but you honestly rarely even see that kind of stuff these days in the NFL. It's so great to see guys actually doing the little basic things right so early. It's funny how the basics can be so productive when executed correctly.
