If you dress yourself up, you want people to look at you. And most "dudes" DGAF about people "looking at them". Most dudes want to be judged on their performance at whatever they do. They want to be good at work, providing for their family, or personal achievements.

Unfair as it is, our society judges women off of their appearance or "sex appeal". When you rant about "looking good" or being "good looking" you come off completely as effeminate. At least how I see it. And effeminate isn't a bad thing except your damn narcissism comes out and you start spouting off about being "right " (which you aren't) all the time and nobody can take you seriously.

This makes no sense. There is nothing wrong in taking pride in the way you dress or how you want to present yourself. The same way as someone might take pride in their work or achievements as you said.

If that was the case, and to stay on topic with the thread. Why didn't Derrick Henry attend the Heisman ceremony in b-ball shorts and a tank top? Clearly he was there because he was good at his work and achievements. Saying that there is no need for him to want good to look as well?

It makes complete sense. Sure, your form is an indicator of your substance. If you're unkempt, sloppy or fat, one can surmise you're not interested (or too lazy) in projecting who you are.

Dressing so others are attracted to because of your appearance rather than your performance is a very effeminate and NOT masculine trait. Traditionally, performance IS the primary trait by which men are judged by other men and women.

 

This is spot on. That's why I always tape a copy of my bank statement and my latest performance review to my forehead any time I leave the house.
