Not "bad", just not deserving of the biggest contract ever!

Plenty of people are saying he is bad.

"Biggest contract ever".... until the next big name young QB extension rolls around. That's just how the NFL works right now.

Exactly....and yes...BAD against good competition....Simply put. Look at his playoff stats and his easy 6 wins a year. The kid can be a stud at times, but not worth that paper...no way

Never said he was a bad QB, I said he was slightly above average. 2014 was a good year for him. 2006 was a good year for Vince Young. Judge his whole body of work not just one year.

What's the alternative though? Let him walk? They had to lock that dude up. And obviously he was going to get paid quite a bit more than the contract Tannehill signed over a year ago.

I agree these QB deals are insane. But as long as the cap keeps going up these QB contracts are going to continue to trend upward.

I hope it gets levelled out before its (hopefully) Mariotas turn.

Well the difference is Luck is average at worst and Fitzpatrick is average at best.

I really don't see this trajectory stopping anytime soon. Not as long as the NFL continues to rake in ungodly amounts of money on an annual basis. We're gonna have to pay Mariota an obscene amount of money in a few years, assuming he keeps getting better.

Colts did themselves no favors here though. They have been saying for 2 years "we are gonna make Luck the highest paid player in the NFL"

Why in the hell would you say that? Talk about giving up negotiating power. Even if they were prepared to do that, you don't tell him.
