I remember reading Mularkey was basically a drill sergeant in his one season with the Jags. Basically all the players hated him lol. Perhaps he's lightened up.

The Ancient Greek Spartans were some of the toughest, well trained soldiers in history. They would send their boys off to a brutal military training camp at the age of 7. Part of their training included joking around. They were trained to have quick wit and good sense of humor. It must have also built commodore. If it worked for the Spartans let's hope it also works for the Titans!,

Kind of hard to give 100% effort or attention if you don't enjoy what you're doing.

    That goes for any job.

I understand that. But we are talking about a young team skipping practices.

If they can't halfway enjoy having a productive practice, they should find a new profession.

I don't have a problem with them having some fun, I think love of the game has to be more than getting paid millions to play it. Having them enjoy it on another level is not a bad thing, helps team bonding and locker room positivity.

That was exactly his point. Professional Accountants, engineers, writers, etc. probably have a tough time enjoying every minute of every day. Understand they are the "professionals" but as he stated, they need to have a little fun or they're gonna get burned out before the season even starts.

I get the concern about missing practices but hopefully that is the incentive to try harder and work harder, hopefully equal to playing better.
I think it's possible that Mularky can judge the talent level and recognizes that we only have what we have and spending more time on the field isn't necessarily going to be the difference for some of these guys.
I think it's just as possible, he has no clue what he's doing and maybe HE wanted the day off.

right but as a professional you're expected to perform at your best regardless of your "personal" history. The focus of being a professional is to deliver the best result of your profession regardless of your personal issues.

The Titans have been crap for years. Giving people "days off" for jocular achievements versus executing without error might not send the right "professional" message. And I think that was the sentiment of the original post that started the thread.

Does having a positive, "fun" attitude contribute to good results down the line. Probably, but I think the reports coming out of OTAs were that the WRs were not executing well and that our HC was fostering a sense of "fun" rather than performance.

Personally, I think the good times and good performance go hand in hand. I just think the good times need to follow behind the good performance.

Yeah I'll bet Bellichick is a real sweetheart at practices and built his dynasty on games of grab ass.
