Sleepaway Camp is one of the few that got it right.
They had an epic first first film and a couple of odd sequels that have gained popularity over the years. When the time came to make a modern Sleepaway they opted to do "Return to Sleepaway Camp" (instead of a remake) with all the original people but a new story leaving the door open to continue the tradition. Everyone loved "Return" and it fits nicely in the overall story..

Total Recall, I could go either way... a reboot isn't the worst thing, but it wasn't necessary. That movie was fine, as it was. The story was fine and the effects haven't been completely dated yet.

Also... a reboot should never be worse than the original. TR was.

A revisit... I believe that is how Ghostbusters SHOULD have been done.

    That's it in a nutshell.

I'm sure I saw the remake at least twice but can't remember any of it. I'll never seek it out to watch again - but I will watch the original again someday. To enjoy that Harryhausen charm..

Strictly speaking horror, the reboots are never better than the original. (I wouldn't call The Thing or The Fly a reboot).
Maybe that's the case for Marvel etc, but that whole culture is about reboots..

I own very, very few movies, but all of the Umbrella Corporation chronicles are indeed part of that collection.

    The Conjuring 2.

It was good, and what I expected. Only see in the theatres if you're a fan of the genre. It was a good time imo.

    Next week...Independence Day 2
