I'm not arguing that he has a deep ball arm. He needs to improve arm strength so he can throw the deep ball accurately. Arm strength isn't why he fumbles a lot though. Drew Bree's didn't have a great arm when he came into the NFL, but he improved it over the years.

At the end of the day all of these concerns can be fixed. Mariota has all the time in the world now to perfect what he does for a living.

I think his deep ball problem was less about his arm and more about his receivers last season. He threw plenty of passes that traveled over 40 yards when he was at Oregon. But guys like Huff, DeAnthony Thomas, Addison and Carrington were getting separation.
They weren't a staple of that offense, but there were more than a few over the course of his college career.

    Lies. Filthy lies.

Mariota might get better, but the WRs weren't the only issue last year. Were they good? No, but when the deep ball opportunities were presented they were missed, badly.

Adrian Peterson had strong arms he filed a lot. Mariota doesn't fumble cuz hes weak, he's careless.

Had I worked on my legs (yes legs) I may have been able to play D1 baseball. I threw at 85-87 on average in high school and legion ball prior to college (90 and had no idea where it was going). I did not put the time in the gym to add velocity to my fastball. Something I regret still to this day. Strength in throwing comes from your legs and core. Not much comes from your actual arm.

So the half of those that were overthrown were because he can't throw it far enough?
8 throws out of 370? GTFOOH.

Still butt hurt about the Rose Bowl I see.

What the hell are you talking about?

When in the world did I say anything about him not being able to throw the ball far enough?

You said he struggled with the deep ball because of a lack of separation from the WRs. I showed you a handful of plays when the WRs had more than enough separation by NFL standards and the ball was thrown inaccurately. Sometimes it was thrown too far out of bounds, sometimes it was thrown too far downfield, and sometimes it was under thrown.

And poor Kendall Wright, who gets killed on this forum for not getting separation deep, was the the one who was the most affected. That ball against the Bills should have been a touchdown.
