One of the best moves the Titans franchise made this offseason was the hiring of new GM Jon Robinson.

After dealing with the fallout of the last half decade i learned that while a good head coach can jump in and turn a team around there are not many guys like John Harbaugh around who can go somewhere and immediately make things happen.

The only thing to do is hire what you consider a good candidate and step back and give that head coach a couple seasons to see if he can get the team moving in a positive direction along with winning more games. Its what most teams do that don't have a great coach like Harbaugh fall in their lap during the hiring process.

This is exactly what the franchise is trying to do with Mike Mularky they gave him the gig so now all we can do is wait and see how it all shakes out. There are some who don't think Mularky is the right man for the job but he didn't really have a lot of help in Jax in his last coaching experience. In Mularky's first year in Buffalo coaching he went 9-7 and had the best defense in the league but he left there the next year due to instability in the front office.

Looking at Mularky as an offensive coordinator he was at Pittsburgh from 2001 through 2003. His first two years he had top five offenses mainly due to a strong run game. Then from 2008 through 2011 he was at Atlanta.

In 2008 he coached the Falcons offense with the offense ranked 6th BUT the pass offense ranked 14th and the rushing game ranked 2nd picking up the bulk of yards Michael Turner ran 376 times for 1,700 yds. Matt Ryan threw 16TD and 11INT as a rookie and no doubt having Turner helped ease Ryan in his first year at QB.

2009 through 2011 his offenses were ranked middle of the pack with RB Turner averaging over 300 carries and 1,300 yards a year.

Mularky will most likely have a balanced attack on offense while in Tennessee as well. Three of his four years in Atlanta he was ranked in the teens in both run and pass offense.

One thing Mularky loves to have is a strong run game he had Jerome Bettis in Pittsburgh and Michael Turner in Atlanta.

With Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry he will have a strong one here in Tennessee as well.

The Titans are assembling a power-based smashmouth attack that can exploit size deficiencies in other teams defenses.

Meanwhile it is definitely my opinion that having a sufficient GM is the most important ingredient in being able to field a successful franchise. A head coach is only going to get as far as the players his GM picks takes him. We already know this due to our last GM's inability to find talent or a franchise QB. He did find a franchise QB but he already was on his way out.

Due to our last GM's ineptness the goodwill the team had here during their first ten years from 1999-2008 as one of the league's winningest teams was long gone by the time he left having 2-14 and 3-13 seasons in 2014 and 2015 no doubt due to the teams lack of playmakers.

One good thing for Tennessee is that Robinson learned his craft in New England with a team that has won four Super Bowls and thirteen of the last fourteen division titles. He also learned a lot by paying close attention to how head coach Bill Belichick did things during the draft. Some of the same strategies they use there are now being used here in Tennessee.

Upon being hired Robinson immediately upgraded our mediocre rushing game and then trading our 2016 number one pick for a handful of picks in not only 2016 but 2017 as well Robinson made more waves in a couple weeks than his predecessor did the entire half decade he was here.

Robinson brought in RB Demarco Murray then a few weeks later drafted Derrick Henry to help QB Marcus Mariota because the team is going to run am offense dubbed exotic smashmouth or smashmouth football with a twist. He also drafted Jack Conklin as well as picking up Ben Jones to strengthen the offensive line.

Here recently Robinson let Zach Mettenberger go which may have surprised some people. Robinson is letting everyone know no one is safe. There are going to be a lot of changes coming in the coming months.

For instance lets looks at the 2015 Tennessee Titans roster..........

QB Marcus Mariota DE Jurrell Casey
RB Bishop Sankey NT Sammie Hill
WR1 Kendall Wright DE Ropati Pitoitua
WR2 Justin Hunter OLB Brian Orakpo
    WR3 DGB ILB Avery Williamson
TE1 Delanie Walker ILB Zach Brown
TE2 Craig Stevens OLB Derrick Morgan
LT Taylor Lewan CB1 Jason McCourty
G Andy Levitre CB2 Perrish Cox
C Brian Schwenke CB3 Coty Sensabaugh
G Chance Warmack SS Michael Griffin
RT Jeremiah Poutasi FS Da'Norris Searcy

The 2016 starting roster is not set in stone YET but could look a different

QB Marcus Mariota DE Jurrell Casey
RB Demarco Murray NT Al Woods
    WR1 DGB DE Daquan Jones
WR2 Kendall Wright OLB Brian Orakpo
WR3 Rishard Matthews ILB Avery Williamson
TE1 Delanie Walker ILB Wesley Woodyard
TE2 Craig Stevens OLB Derrick Morgan
LT Taylor Lewan CB1 Jason McCourty
G Jeremiah Poutasi CB2 Perrish Cox
C Ben Jones CB3 Brice McCain
G Chance Warmack SS Rashad Johnson
RT Jack Conklin FS Da'Norris Searcy

Also depth could be a lot different as well....

2015.....QB Zach Mettenberger 2016.......QB Matt Cassel
2015.....RB David Cobb 2016.......RB Derrick Henry
2015.....WR Harry Douglas 2016.......WR Tajae Sharpe
2015......TE Taylor Thompson 2016.......TE Anthony Fasano
2015......G Quinton Spain 2016.........G Sebastian Tretola
2015.......T Jamon Meredith 2016.........T William Poehls
2015......DE Mike Martin 2016........DE Angelo Blackson
2015.......NT Sammie Hill 2016........NT Austin Johnson
2015..LOLB Dontay Moch 2016...LOLB Deiontrez Mount
2015..LILB Justin Staples 2016..LILB Curtis Grant
2015..ROLB Kamerion Wimbley 2016..ROLB Kevin Dodd
2015..RILB Zaviar Gooden 2016..RILB Sean Spence
2015.. LCB Blidi Wreh Wilson 2016...LCB Blidi Wreh Wilson
2015.. RCB Brandon Harris 2016...RCB LeSean Sims
2015.....FS Marqueston Huff 2016......FS Marqueston Huff
2015.....SS Daimon Stafford 2016......SS Kevin Byard

The bottom line is that a lot of players who have been gliding by the past few years because of Webster and his blind ability not to see talent and such will suddenly find themselves very vulnerable. I think Jon Robinson is going to make this team tough to play and respectable again. Many players i don't like such as Blidi Wreh Wilson are taking a younger more talented guys spot like Cody Riggs.

Once Robinson rebuilds the trenches and has good depth there we will be able to run the ball down peoples throats and control the time of possession eating clock and keeping the other team and its offense off the field. This smashmouth approach will be interesting.............

I love what JR has done! Mularky scares me..... But I really think our season will lie in the hands of how the O-line plays under Russ Grimm. He has been successful everywhere he has been, so that's a plus. If the line is good, we get the run game going, and if we get that going it helps out Marcus and our defense tremendously.

Just look at the Panthers and Seahawks recent teams. It's the same strategy.

I'd really rather see the link to the story rather than copy and paste when it's this long. Really just sums up how bad Tennessee has been the last couple years with a little bit of speculation with no more incite than these boards.

I'm pretty sure Mike writes these things himself.

I appreciate the dedication, but I also don't care.
