Lol. Yeah. The return of power football, but it's nice to see wishful thinking never left.

If executed properly...It will work and we will be more competitive. The problem I see, is coaching, and getting this line to gel fast enough. I'm hoping both or at least one or the other pan out.

Just picture Michael Griffin, or one of the many defensive backs who are just like him, trying to bring down Derrick Henry at full speed. As defenses get quicker they tend to get smaller. If two trains collide. . . . I will put money of the Big train.

I'm ready for us to get back to old guy football, lots of power runs and hard hitting on D. Granted, we'll probably get flagged on every play for playing real football in today's NFL but I still can't wait to see if we can really make it work.

If Henry proves effective, every team will renew their search for the next Kam Chancellor.

We could be REALLY nasty to face if we establish the run. I still think our defense needs some help in the secondary etc....and we will see how the pass rush does....but with Mariota's speed and accuracy, it opens the playbook up. I think next year if we grab a true CB and WR we could really be a contender. Of course, football needs to be played, and we will likely all be pissed off again hahahah

I like the Moneyball aspect out of this. You search the market for an area to take advantage of and build your team through that value. Titans are years away from truly competing so making your own niche when teams are going the other way could pay off big time. You also find value in players that can still work for you but maybe not for most teams. A perfect example is our RB depth chart. We made a trade for Murray and gave up practically nothing. He still has a couple years to go and he fits our scheme. We drafted a terrific player in Henry, who is limited to which teams he could go to, and fell in our lap in the mid 2nd round. We drafted the Arkansas guard (name currently escapes me) who is primarily a run blocker and mauler. He went further down because of his scheme limitations. When you go against the grain and make your own lane, this allows advantages to be taken in the market.

Billy Beane did this with on-base percentage and runs scored. Didn't matter where you're from, age, weight, experience, injuries, etc. if you excelled at getting on base then you were a good fit and the A's could afford those kind of players because of Beane taking advantage of that market. The Red Sox basically copied this approach with a ton more cash and won a few titles off this approach.

The Browns hired Paul DePodesta, Beane's right-hand man during the time the book was written. Browns are trying to get in the game much like how the Patriots are doing. Of course, J-Rob learned from their organization. You can label it as old man football, hate on Mularkey, or whatever else but you can't deny that the Titans finally have a direction and a formula to try and turn this team around.
