Mularkey's offensive historically is the Erhardt-Perkins "concept" based offense, the offense is predicated on power run. Since Robiskie was the WR coach in ATL With Mularkey as the O Coordinator. I imagine he knows it well enough considering it's not his background of offense. When he was the offensive coordinator before he ran the Air Coryell system. Whiz also ran the E-P but the focus was throw first, which often lead to short 3 and outs. He often used bunch concepts as well. Difference of mularkey he likes big sets and TEs, run first demeanor.

For EP, The calls are very simple and quick. Instead of calling out 4 individual routes- a jumble of words in other systems, the QB says 1 or 2 words that tell the WRs a concept. Much quicker. It doesn't matter what formation you are in, that concept is still Applicable to call. The QB and WRs read the middle of field (open or closed) and designate the routes run based on those. Post snap reads

I think the biggest issue moving forward will
Be the option portion of E-P. That's obviously been slimed down and taught simpler for the young offense.

I would not say that we have a great offensive line to run power though. Power is a dominate style of running. You have to win your 1 on 1's across the board. I'd be shocked to see this rag tag Line turn that leaf very quickly.

Well...Thankfully for us...There are new faces on that line. 2 guaranteed, and possibly a 3rd or 4th that could easily beat out what we had. I think the fact that we have some weapons may really help us. If we can have a good run blocking line, and lineup in power formations...That is going to be a huge headache with Mariota's speed etc...Opens up a lot of options.

Overall, I wasn't a huge fan of the draft. I actually preferred Decker and he could've been had at 15 with saving the picks. I do think Dodd is going to be a very good player, but he will be out of place any time he doesn't have his hand (meaning any time we are in our base defense). I had Austin Johnson graded as a mid to late 3rd round talent. That was the biggest reach in my opinion. The others I can live with, but I don't get how Billings fell to the 4th because he is considered a two-down player while Johnson (who I also consider to be a two-down player only) gets drafted in the mid 2nd.

Jack Conklin Draft Profile – NFL.com
    and
Taylor Decker Draft Profile – NFL.com

I don't know how people put Decker where Conklin is...Dude didn't play with nearly as much energy etc...The grades were better for Conklin all throughout, plain and simple...He also run blocks better than Decker, which is what they wanted. Birds were talking Conkin with their 8th pick...nobody EVER put Decking in the first half of the draft until the last week towards the draft. I watched the tape, and the combine/numbers...Conklin smashed him hands down. Not to mention a ton of expert analyst talking Conklin being just as good as Tunsil if not better in their eyes.....

Everyone keeps talking about staying at 15 and taking Decker like the Lions wouldn't have just traded from 16 to 14 to get the last remaining 1st round OT on the board Lol

Johnson had 6 sacks last season, Billings had 5.5. Fair to think both have the capability to be 3 down players.

I have a feeling staying at 15 and making that pick was never in the cards. I think the plan all along was get the haul to trade out of 1, then use some of that return as ammo to move back up and catch one of our top 4 or 5 prospects who was falling.
