Or, it could mean that we are signing Jason Pierre-Paul's younger and fully phalanged brother, Dustin Pierre-Paul.

Since we are talking scouting- obviously the department is going to be taking on a patriots POV. The pats have very specific base lines for their prospects as well as how their reports are used as a functional piece of information- how said prospect fits and plays in our system. Not just how well he runs the ball, or catches... Or what not. But defined roles.

The athletic standards have been figured out by patriot media-

Interestingly some of our draft picks are among the top guys in the patriot athletic system, namely Conklin and Henry.

Not at all. Everything still falls back on him regardless. If this draft blows up in his faces for some reason, and he sucks for another few years, no one is going to suddenly change their mind because his first draft picks were with the old regime's scouts.

(Disclaimer: I don't think it will, and I don't think he'll suck. In fact, I love the moves so far)

That article, plus the following one, both say Cowden is the Titans' new Director of Player Personnel. Beddingfield and Gardner will both report to him.
Titans hire Panthers scout as player personnel director

"Cowden, 38, has been with the Panthers since 2000, when the former Wofford safety broke into the NFL as a college scouting assistant. He was promoted to national scout/senior college scout in 2012 and spent the last two seasons as the team’s assistant college scouting director."

Figured out? They just took the Pats players and compared their numbers to the NFL avg. You could say the same thing about EVERY team. I noticed the Pats didn't draft some of their 'best' athletic fits. Mainly because stats are stats and the Pats aren't just looking at stats and measurements...that's how you end up taking good athletes instead of great football players!!!

Yes but they've also MONITORED these drafts to find the specific standards. The three cone is used greatly for their CBs. It's not "well he fits the athletic model" - run it. Of COURSE there is more to it. But they arnt taking guys that DONT fit the model...

ALSO, yes there are other teams that use similar analytics to decide... Seattle has been using SPARQ scores for some time now. LOB is Sparq based..

The point is- they do have a specific way they grade and view players. You can build sheets of "plausible" players for the patriots that arnt far off using these numbers.

They also tend to farm from specific colleges more than other teams, a few years ago when Schiano was at Rutgers- it was Rutgers players. Still is to a degree but more lately it's been Bama guys.
