Absolutely. Not that he can't catch the ball or play third down- just for his overall effectiveness running the ball. It would be to our interest to spell him.

But did you see how he held his shoulder on that 60 yard run? Garbage!

I don't have the numbers but I'm sure just about every good RB in the NFL have similar percentage of 1 yard or less carries. Not every run is a gain...there is a whole other team there trying to stop that from happening after all.

I'll agree he was a good college player. We won't know if he's good in the NFL until he actually plays. But, the silly "do you see how he points his toe while stiff arming people and running for 50 yards, he'll never be able to point his toe like that in the NFL!" **** is ridiculous.

I've only watched highlights but when you see a huge guy like Henry outrun an entire team, it's pretty impressive. Does he do that every play? No. But neither does any other RB now, nor has any RB ever.

I'm not sure what to tell you the Fry, seems like you just want to be pissed.
So what your saying is... he averaged more than 5 yards per carry AFTER 25 percent of his carries were stopped for one yard or less... seems like a pretty good average knowing that. In fact I'd say that's pretty impressive that he gained 2100 plus yards on only 75% of his carries, I wonder what his average is without those carries. BTW he can't block for himself. If you go look, you will notice when he gets a crease he can and does get thru it. How many times was he hit in the backfield and still gained positive yardage? I mean seriously big picture. I've seen RB's who've succeeded who can't gain yardage when being hit behind the line of scrimmage.... in fact a guy named C.J. tops that list for me.

I wanted us to take Gurley last season and very few people thought with the injury he'd be taken before the mid 20's. He didn't, we lost out. This year Henry who like it or not has/had a 1st round grade and we got him MID SECOND ROUND. Value pick, insurance pick, great pick based on college productivity. I know you wanted us to wait to draft the RB next year right? Cook, Fournette, Chubb or who? Thing is it doesn't matter who at this point and with 2 1st rounders next season ya never know but for right now we do have Murray AND Henry. Time to get over it.

Nobody's pissed. I'm giving an opinion on how I think his game translates to the NFL.

Chris Johnson was a drive killer because so many of his runs were unsuccessful. There's a reason we wanted him to take a pay cut.

Watch the A&M game last year. Shows pretty much every concern I have with Henry. Wide open holes where he goes 60 yards untouched for a TD, stone hands, poor pass protection, poor vision, chopped down like a tree pretty easily because defenders go at his legs.

Robinson said he was surprised to see Henry last that long. Guess what? He passed on him twice.

thats not bad, most of Alabama's stalled out drives were Coker or Drakes fault.

A guy totally standing still in the backfield to change direction is not going to work in the NFL.

And you keep getting on me about shoulder direction. If his shoulders are going towards the sidelines where do you think his power is directed? Towards the sidelines. The end zone is in the other direction. You don't see that with Elliott and the top guys for next year's draft. Their feet are constantly moving, scrapping down the line. There is no stop, turn, sprint. That stop gives the defense time to converge, and NFL defenders converge a lot faster than college defenders.

Yeah, that's great. Again, I'm not talking college stats. I'm talking traits and how they translate. Stopping your own momentum three yards deep in the backfield to turn and sprint isn't going to work the way it did at Bama.

This is like trying to point out faults in Manziel's game to the Manziel fans before that draft. Dude can do no wrong. "But he threw 40 TDs!

Do you guys think I just hate Derrick Henry because he's Derrick Henry? That I just innately don't like him? That's ridiculous. I just don't think his game translates all that well.

We've gone over his footwork ad nauseum.

I think his pass protection skills are overestimated. He holds up sometimes and then there are others when it looks like he is disinterested.

He's not a plus player in the passing game. People can try to convince me that his hands are good because of what he did at his pro day, but Bama split him out wide some and they never threw him the ball. They didn't have an issue getting the ball into Drake's hands when he was split wide. He's strictly a check down/screen/swing pass back. Nothing wrong with that, but he's not a mismatch in the passing game.
