To this point- I'm pleasantly pleased and surprised with Mariota.

Murray will be the starter and that won't change until he gets hurt or Henry shows that he is clearly the better player. Everybody saw how Murray acted when he got benched and lost carries last year. This team would have to be a special kind of stupid to bring him in and do the same.

 

Hes breaking dozens of arm tackles every game, if you're watching. Hes got quick burst to the hole with getaway speed. Falls forward literally every play that I've seen him.

Hes got his weaknesses as well. His lateral agility is inconsistent. He will need some good blocking up front (what we've been building). But same could be said for Chris Johnson, and he gave up a good 5 years.

Theres very few backs in the NFL who make their own yards.

 

Considering decision making and accuracy are the two main traits to make a QB successful, why would you even doubt Mariota? Just because he ran a spread doesn't take away his two main intangibles which fit in any O type.

 

I think Murray will get plenty of chances, if he stays healthy. Even if he's putting up legit #s, I still think well see Henry get 10 carries a game. Two dominant RBs in a smashmouth power run offense. That's what we're going for.

Other than him the rest saw EG play once or at most twice a year and had zero clue what they were seeing
