The more I read about him on the draft sites the more I liked him and was happy when he was drafted.

I found it strange though that they had him rated lower than other DTs but the comments on Johnson made him sound better than those others lol.

Anyway, I am happy and hope he can start day 1.

I don't hate the Johnson pick. But I do think Reed or A'Shawn are more talented/have higher ceilings. But I'll trust that LeBeau knows who is a better fit for the defense.

Johnson is a great fit our defense. He'll play every position across the line and help stuff the run. That has a lot of value. Not sure he'll ever be a flashy or high end player, but I do think he'll make a positive contribution here for a number of years.

Whew, the more I look at Johnson, the more and more I love this pick.

This guy is a monster at point of attack with a lot of speed for his size. He literally reminds me of the BEAST #99 we currently have on our roster.

Reed and A Shawn are aided by rotating lineman very often at Alabama and even fresh they still can't rush the passer. Austin is just as good a run stopper and offers a far better pass rush. Austin probably stays on field third down over Jones to rush with Casey.

He's also only 21 yrs old.

Some impressive Austin Johnson tape for you guys to digest. This kid is hard to get tape on, but heres him vs Buffao, watch #99 usually lines up at LDT (not the guy theyre tracking for you)

I love that him and Daquan played together at Penn St., are good friends and even watched the draft together. Prebuilt chemistry!

Seriously though, on that Nassib video, #99 is a straight up relentless beast. Love watching the big men chase down a running back and take him down. Dude never quits.

For a big dude...He was hauling a$$ at the QB a bunch there...and chasing guys down. Love to see that. I hope he brings that passion here day 1! Good pick

FWIW that center he was whipping around was a freshman, so if he didnt beat him like a drum Id be worried.

Still cant decide if I like this pick or not, theres only two tapes out there, this one, and Ohio St.

Vs OSU he held his own, vs inferior competition he was a beast. so still cant decide what he really can do.
