We picked some great players at some really important needs. The fact that we didn't get a corner is quite surprising, but it just goes back to dick lebeau. He's never needed good corners for his defense. I guess he thinks as long as the offense can stay on the field and his front 7 can get to the qb, the corners aren't as important. I know one thing, our offense should be extremely fun to watch for the first time in a long time.

Regarding "reaches." What if we had drafted Alexander at 33, Billings at 43, and Cash at 45? Would you say we reached? Because, according to where they were actually drafted, they would be huge reaches.

we're just so used to reaching and over drafting, we maybe need to have more faith in JR. I'm speaking mostly for myself. :biggrin2:

This is what I'm talking about... Whine one one!!!!!!!!

Just because they didn't take who you wanted. Pathetic. Have you even done any research on any of the players yet? Have a single one of them taken a snap yet?

Conklin, called the best run blocking tackle in this draft.
Dodd, is one of THOSE guys D. L. most likely had a hand in picking... he has a pretty good history grabbing OLB's for his scheme btw.
Then we grabbed a pure 3-4 NT in Johnson, something we did not have. Might be a better fit than Robinson or Reed or Billings according to the team... oh wait they drafted him over them so...
Derrick Henry, huge, fast and extremely productive. A hammer for a team looking to toughen up.
Then we drafted a Safety who happens to be a ball hawk IF you look at his stats. Not a "big hitter" like Griffin lol.
We grabbed a WR who happens to have a couple of skills most of our WR's lack, namely route running and the ability to uncover.
We also grabbed a G from another SEC school. Also happens to be an area most of us saw was piss poor last year on the interior line. Came from a run first offense and is obviously ready to work.
Then, and YES I'm going to be "that guy" we drafted another DB with skills. A guy who helped turn a very bad team into a respectable one last season.

In fact, every player we drafted was very productive. Maybe not the big names some wanted but who's to say the guys we as fans wanted fit what they are trying to do?

Point is, none of us knows how this draft will work out and the most common sense thing said in this thread was give it three years before we can give any legitimate grade. That being said not as good ON PAPER as any of us wanted but likely not as bad as some here seem to think.

Where did Cash and Billings end up being drafted? Not being a smart aleck but I'm pretty sure Cash was still around in the 6th and Billings was definitely still there in the 5th.

Fine with the players but we could have traded back in 2nd round and still gotten Henry. Love MTSU kid at S, but trade back and get the same guy and get us a 4th round pick.
