With the 8th Pick of the 2016 Draft: Michigan State OT Jack Conklin

Even sweeter, a top 10 pick on a guard, sounds all too familiar.

 

It's not anywhere nearly as bad as Poutasi last year. I don't know how anyone in the FO/staff could have watched him at Utah and thought he would survive at tackle in the NFL. He never had a shot.

I think Gruden compared Conklin to Scherff of the Redskins who went at #6 last year. It is an apt comparison. Scherff started all 16 games for the Skins....at right guard. Hopefully Conklin stays outside and actually plays well and isn't out there because he's just better than Byron Bell.

 

Assuming conklin is a good rt, this was a really good trade, imo. We got a first and 3rd next year, 2 seconds and a 6th to go back 7 spots and gave up a 2nd next year. We still gained 4 picks, 3 this year and 1 next year. That 2nd can easily be traded back to us, even if it's moving back next year. Every move jr has made he has won so far.

I do not however like the ot pick, especially when moving up. But, obviously the titans felt differently. I'm going to just assume this was a good pick until i see otherwise. He's a mauler, has attitude and is a hard working guy, i think he'll be a good rt pro.

Just have to accept the pick, this draft is far from over. We just filled one of our biggest needs so lets be happy thats over with. Interesting enough Conklin finished top 5 in the 40, 3 cone drill, and 20 yard shuttle. Hidden athleticism?

 

We have 3 2nd rd picks to address the secondary so stop whining. You are brain dead if you think Hargreaves was worth an 8th pick.

 

Louis Riddick sh*t all over Vernon Hargreaves showing film that indicated he has no elite speed and doesn't always give max effort.

You don't trade up to the 8th pick to get him.

Who could we have gotten at DB sitting at 15? Neal? Joesph and Apple were already gone by then.

 

I hate giving up the 2nd round pick in 2017. It's probably a pick in the 33-43 range.
