I've heard 2 scouts say that Conklin is so slow, he will probably end up at guard. That's just what we need, another 1st round guard.

Ifedi might be a 1st rounder if you want a Guard, 2nd rounder if you keep him at RT. I wouldnt chance it, the drop off after Ifedi is too much to rely on and no guarantee he's there at 33.

Byron bell would be a 6th round pick in this draft, almost anyone would be an improvement.

Conklin to the Bears is my guess. Tunsil will go too high IMO to trade up. Wouldn't object to Spriggs if JRob wants to trade out of #15.

I find it hard to believe that you think almost any rookie after the 1st round is an improvement over Byron Bell. They all will lack the game experience he has. Not that I want him as our starter, OT is less important of a need IMO with how the offense will be drastically different under Mularkey.

The topic of the thread is what do we do if Conklin is taken, the drop off after him/Decker if both were to be gone to the next tier of OT is minimal. Any OT we take @ 15 or later will have their share of rough patches in the NFL as they get use to the game, that is why I said in the SHORT term are we really getting that big of a difference between that rookie or a veteran in Bell.

Byron Bell was a part of the league high 54 sacks given up, he is awful and easily replaceable by next to anyone. I dont agree that he can hang with a 1st/2nd round Tackle, he himself went undrafted for good reason, its a miracle he's still playing.

Lewan and Bell both accounted for 7 sacks each of those 54, Bell also had 4 less penalties than Lewan are we looking to replace Lewan as well? The sack issues were more so having a rookie QB with a bad blocking scheme.

I'm not saying it will definitely translate to lateral quickness, but Conklin ran one of the faster 40 times of the OL at the combine. He's not slow.

I agree about half the issue was with Mariota being a rookie, but Bell looked lost out there, his lack of agility shows and costs us, have to upgrade the RT, weve been saying this well over a year now
