If it's just Jags-49ers, the jags can essentially pay him twice as much with the exact same offer.

Not sure I would invest $16Mil per year in a CB who had the best season of his career at age 28 in the final year of his contract.

 

So we currently have $29mil, a lot lower than the Jags (53), 49ers (52), and the Browns (39). Realistically, we can't afford a bidding war for Norman, who has had only one great season.

Obviously, all of us would love to have the guy. Like JCBrave said, so does 31 other teams. I wouldn't want to handcuff ourselves next year during FA and not be able to afford other vets. If we really want a CB, trade up for WJIII or Hargreaves, and throw someone one of our 2nd round picks.

 

Sounds like you guys are getting blinded by his stardom. He's not worth $16/year to our franchise, not when we have so many good picks in this draft. Last year was arguably his only good season, no need to break the bank.

Like many posters have already said, dude is old he only gets worse from here. Look at what happened to Revis when he got his payday. If JR is as smart as we all think he is, he won't take the bait on this one.

 

I see the 49ers being in our way of getting Norman. Either way we go we would be taking a gamble on finding a #1DB

 

Honestly for the amount of money and for what we are trying to do here (rebuild process) I think it would make sense to go after guys that would cost less. Get some depth at these positions and get young guys. Having a lock down corner would be sweet but using the money to solidify multiple positions would help us out more for how depleted our roster is in terms of talent.

 

Sign him for whatever it takes!! I'm serious, i don't care... Just do it.. Then trade a #2 to the Jets for Wilkerson... BOOM

I'm sure JMAC or Cox could play at S - and Jennings will still get playtime as you need 5 DB sets all the time and we have some very good depth....

Draft an RT with @ #15... Draft a good LB inside LB in the second... And trade a first round next year + mid pick for a top flight WR @ age 25 / 26...

Compete for superbowl...

 

How do you know this after one offseason as the GM? I'm not saying I disagree with you, I'm just saying we really don't know. What we do know is JR would be very aggressive if he thinks its something that could approve the team. Weather or not he will or wouldn't throw the bank at anyone would speculation until he says other wise. We just wouldn't know given the length of time he's been a GM considering this is his first time as GM.

 

Who's Jennings?
I'd love to sign Norman but not overpay for his 1 good year.
And no way would I'd trade a first next year for a WR. Who did you have in mind for that trade?
