Look he's been lining up as our #1 receiver on the outside for several years now and has performed average at best in that capacity. This year, Mathews and DGB will be on the outside and Write will have the opportunity to move into the slot. A position his skill set is better suited for. No way we should pay him now until we see how he performs there. If he is unsuccessful as our slot guy there is no purpose in keeping him around. If he IS successful, we pay him then. But at slot WR money, not #1 money.

Wright has the talent but he's not a good route runner. He's a slot guy who should be given options of routes so as has been said "he can be creative". Being on the same page as Marcus is going to be the issue there.

It really depends on his production this year, if DGB overtakes our #1 spot and Delanie Walker outproduces Kendall (again) I think that definitely drops Wright's value and contract numbers. I don't see us really trying to shell out money on him if he repeats what he did last season. If he's our top guy and Mariota gets comfortable with him and they can connect well throughout next season I think we'd be hard pressed not to keep him.

He did have a good year. I didn't realize he had 14 TDs.
