Ben Jones to the Titans, 4 year deal

I'm not saying it can't happen. Heck, every pick the Titans make I would like to pan out. I just love that we have competition. That's all I ask for. Don't hand it to anyone. Shoot, if Warmack isn't playing to his ability, bench him. The goal is to protect Mariota. That is the whole reason we retained Mularkey, correct? lol

 

Schwenke should at least be allowed to compete for a starting spot at OG/C. But I don't think he'd make a very good starting OG.. From what I've seen at C, he kinda gets pushed back a lot.. Not that strong.. I like the interior of my OL to be tough SOB's, like Jones is.. Warmack is strong too [albeit disappointing up to this point, but mainly cause of his draft slot] and even Poutasi is A LOT stronger than Schwenke IMO.

Worth a look though.

 

I definitely agree that Schwenke is a natural center, and that is where I believe he has the best chance to succeed. I just believe without the nagging injuries and without having to focus on snaps, he could stand to provide a little bit better push. I could be reaching there, however.

 

Has played guard and center. That's a good thing considering how often the Titans linemen seem to go down.

Solid center and if need be he can move around. I like it.

 

Ben Jones is an instant upgrade over Schwenke

 

Ok...I am getting pretty encouraged about our new GM at this point. It is pretty ironic that I am getting fired up with us actually addressing needs in the offseason, but we are where we are LOL...


I am still realistic about our on field coaches though. Next season will still likely be pretty rough IMO...

We have all heard what a mess spending big in free agency can be, but we also saw Denver make it work. So far, I don't consider Murray (financial terms not big enough) or Jones to be "typical, stupid moves bad teams make in free agency"..

I must admit, albeit I've always been one to believe that spending big in FA is a big no no 90% of the time, this has been pretty exciting so far...and we are linked to so many other big names.

 

Schwenke can get cut for all I care.
