I know. I know. We just drafted a QB. We don't need to be wasting a draft pick on another one, right? I would agree with that 100%.........except did you see how bad Mettenberger was every single game he's played in? I cannot see Robinson keeping him on the roster. Trade 'em if you can, but just move on.

When/if Mariota is injured, we still need someone competent to run the offense, and why not someone who has many of the same attributes as Mariota. Going into this past season, Boykin was rated as one of the top college QB's, and I think he would be a perfect backup to MM8 in the long run. Maybe bring in a veteran for this season, and let Boykin develop as a backup.

He will probably be a 4-5th Rd grade, and worth it, IMHO. I was about to say he is probably Tyrod Taylor 2.0...maybe closer to Russell Wilson in terms of size and overall game. I just noticed that whomever wrote the evaluation of him on NFL.com, also likened him to Taylor. What do you guys think about taking him there, if he does well at the Combine and Pro Day?

C'mon man you're better than this. You never waste a draft pick on a qb for the purpose of being a career backup..

72 QB's stepped in to play at one point or another for all 32 teams last year, so QB is certainly an area you want to have some depth at, and we have nothing so not the worst idea to invest a pick into a QB...

Is Boykin going to the combine? If he cleans up his wind up Id be interested.. He does what Mett does and telecasts some throws

He's not nearly as bad as Mett. His delivery is so fast, it's very hard to tell most of the time.

He tips his hat tho with that long wind up, Mett has that issue but is bigger so its more obvious..

If he can develop a more compact throwing motion he's draftable, otherwise I wouldn't do it. Those wasted motions cost you in the NFL.

His size also hurts his stock, maybe thats to our benefit tho. I do like that he's mobile and can replicate what Mariota does (Mett cant). His arm strength is also impressive, but again he's limited by his mechanics. If he takes that whip off the end of this passes the ball will go further and faster... Its easy to clean up but its something that takes a lot of reps to create the muscle memory..

I'd take a shot on him late and see if he can use his quicks as a PR.

I'm not a fan of drafting backup QBs when you have your franchise guy already.

As much **** as we give Mett I think he'd be a lot better with a real running game and blockers.

Boykin is a 3rd QB, or developmental guy. We still need a solid vet as a backup and in that QB room to help Marcus.

If we could trade Mett for anything, I'd do it. He's a 3rd stringer, not a backup. We can get a vet to hold a clipboard nice and cheap.
