Quickly relative to this thread and day/time. Not from historical viewpoint. I thought that was obvious though.

The problem is we have been trying to fix the Oline the last 5 years with high draft picks and fa signings. None of it has been working. Hard to get excited when you just watched that strategy fail. Lewan is just average, warmack is a little below average, Schwenke cant stay healthy and I've given up on him at this point.

Yeah definitely frustrating. I've given up completely on Schwenke.

Lewan is still developing and Warmack has a bit of development left. We set them both back with Bostad as OL coach. He was terrible. If we don't see any improvement out of Warmack this next year, I'll give up on him as well.

And I have no effing idea what to think of Poutasi. That still was a dumb pick IMO.

Mark this down somewhere; if Brian Fcking Schwenke is our starter in camp and we didn't add a better C to replace him, teams going 5-11 at best.

The man is A.) not very good to begin with, and B.) cant stay healthy long enough to develop continuity.. Id honestly be stunned if we open camp and he's the guy. Theres just no way Robinson sees anything there, you play back the tape and he's always in the QB's lap or on his own back..

Robinson and the Bucs did a nice job of fixing the Bucs OL last yr adding 2 rookies who contributed right away. That gives me some hope.

I always thought their was a disconnect in Bostad and Whisenhunt...Bostad came from the run at all cost Wisconsin Badgers, while Whiz was the throw at all cost type of coach.

I think that Mularkey and Grimm will be on the same page.

Winston has better pocket awareness than Mariota, Winston was on his ass plenty tho.

I still think it all comes down to play calling and having guys in position to do their thing.

Whisenhunt wasn't about that, he thought he could win with basic football. Very little misdirection, very little deception, called long developing plays that exposed us..

What this team needs is better play calling, there are so many different concepts that hide your deficiencies in football, why dont we utilize that stuff? Even Munchak did a good job of finding out what guys did well and calling plays that put them in position.. Whiz - not at all, Mularkey - sort of..

Winston was sacked 27 times in 16 games. Mariota, 38 in 12 games.
If Mariota played 16 games you could almost guarantee that would be 50+ sacks. Ouch!

Not saying you're wrong...because Whiz left Mariota out there to get hit like a punching bag for half of the season, but the oline needs better players and better scheming/play calling.

Yep. Sacks are a measure of a combination of QB smarts, OL protection, and scheme. At least 2 out of those 3 were horrible. Maybe all 3 at some points. With a line this bad, you need a scheme that allows for quick passing plays, and a QB that can think and react quickly.
