    Watched The Visit last night.
Great idea for a horrifying story - but the kids were such unbearable smart-ass know-it-alls that it almost made it unwatchable.

That said, this flick includes what was though possibly the greatest scene in a movie for a couple of years.
(don't check the spoiler unless you've seen the flick)
When Pop Pop smacks the kid in the face with the poop-filled Depends diaper
I laughed and laughed. Such an appropriate way to deal with a smart-ass kid.

The kids, particularly that damn boy, were annoying but it didn't bother me too much after the first 15 minutes or so when things really got going. I had rock bottom expectations going into it but I ended up really enjoying it. I'd say it was one of the better "studio" horrors of recent years. And it was Shyamalan's best effort in a long while. Sure there were issues but overall a fun movie. And there were some really creepy moments.

It was nice that there was no supernatural element. Just creepy assed old people

The kid's attitudes were a major plot point and crucial to the resolution.
IIRC the girl breaks a mirror in the climax and it then seen actually looking into one while brushing her hair in the final scene; the boy overcomes his germophobia after surviving the worst encounter imaginable to him. Elements like this made it feel like an art film as much as a comedy/thriller.

They could have accomplished all of this without the kids being utterly annoying.
In fact, if the kids were likable there could have been a reason to pull for them.
I was squarely on Team Granparents 10 minutes into the movie.

    I don't get that movie??

I thought that's how you old people act when you're at home anyway? Why make a movie about it and label it horror??

Solid is pretty much how I'd describe it.

The main kid is a fantastic actor though.

I kind of think that is the reason it is memorable to me.

The dialogue in this one was too painful for me to enjoy.

    Just an ultimate cheese-fest.
