I sweat the other day going HAM on a baconator, I think that qualifies me for the pro bowl, IMHO.

By your definition provided, looks like Golf and Nascar qualify as sports!

Nope you have old and fat people playing golf everyday, doesn't take much physical exertion.

NASCAR you are sitting for hours.

    Non-sports.

Like I said, you can make a case competitive cheerleading is more of a sport than both of those.

Baseball is boring. Who wants to watch guys stand still for 2.5 hours and run in a circle the rest of the time. I would argue soccer is way more exciting than baseball.

I would also make the argument that basketball is boring too. I don't think I've ever watched a game start to finish in the regular season.

I watched 2 NBA finals games and 0 world series games, but I've watched every single US world cup game for both men and women in the last 2 world cups. I would probably start following the MLS if they had a team in my city. (Milwaukee)

I am not a big fan of soccer either, but I agree that it will grow in the coming years for a couple of reasons:

    1. Demographic change in the US as others have mentioned already, and

    2. Decline of the NFL due to issues such as CTE and the resulting rule changes to deal with these issues.

I do not have a study or anything on this, but I do hear alot of anecdotal evidence that parents are beginning to more actively discourage their kids from playing football. Does anyone with kids here have any comment to that?

If kids start to shy away from football, it is only a matter of time before it declines. Soccer could fill up part of that void IMO. Would suPk for me because watching soccer is more boring than watching baseball or Nascar to me LOL...

My 3 year old going on 4 is absolutely in love with the Buckeyes. He can't sit and watch a whole game yet but he knows Saturday's are football Saturday and he wakes up excited. He carries his little Buckeyes football with him all the time. Loves to play catch.

My little one has no interest whatever, yet..

I played contact football at 6, but that was in Ohio. I've looked at the leagues here and they are all flag football starting at age 5. They will both be signed up.

Yeah I would agree that it is better to hold off of full contact until kids are older (maybe 13 or 14).

Hopefully the NFL is serious when they say that they will try to de-emphasize leading with the head tackling at the developmental levels...but as more of these CTE cases begin to build up (I have a feeling that Favre will disclose a CTE finding someday as well...just my gut) it is going to make it tougher on the league to function in a manner that maintains its entertainment value to fans.
