Yeah I'm not so sure myself. I'm still holding out hope they pass on Mularkey but I am gonna try not to lose my sh!+ if they do remove the interim tag. Man this is painful.

Sorry, but that's not right. There was a clause in his contract for him to exercise it with a change of ownership. But he just turned the team around and thought he could get a little more money. So while making millions and after making the players and community feel like they finally got the right guy, he quits to TRY and get a bigger paycheck.

We always talk badly about players quitting on coaches. He was a coach who quit on his players...period!

Word in NY (and Buffalo is IN NY) that having turned around the Bills, he could now command a higher salary on the open market, so he left his team thinking he'd be one of the top candidates (since he was coming off a good season, not a bad one) and get a higher paycheck. The players felt betrayed.

And like it or not, player contracts and coaching contracts are very different. No coach loses his contract due to injury. So players have to be a little more PAY ME NOW while coaches - especially relatively young ones, can bide their time. Most NFL players have less than a 5 year career. Coaches can coach for decades...just look at Coughlin or LeBeau!

So to leave a team for a higher paycheck (how it was perceived and makes sense) is like telling ownership you can't trust him to build your team. Not cool!

Who wanted Todd Bowles as their new head coach?

Watching the Bowles debacle makes me really appreciate Mularkey even more.

It's been a long time since I watched a game and thought the coach and the entire team had quit......but there was no one trying after the half. A whole new culture has to be injected there. I winced at some of the reactions of Todd....

For a team that didn't look far away last year, this is a total nightmare for the Jets. They cashed in a while ago and to put this on National television now??? Ugly!!!

What will be even uglier is if they end up with a top 5 pick and don't get a QB in round 1. They are built to win now but it may be time to rethink that and start over with a new QB!
