Almost let walk away??? He had a visit with us on 3/11 and one scheduled for Arizona on 3/12. He stayed in Nashville after his visit, skipped the trip to AZ, and signed with us on 3/13. RW and Griff put the hard sell on Orakpo to sign with the Titans.

This was a guy that we HAD to sign. We were absolutely terrible on pass rush. We did not have enough players under contract to even play a game at the position. It still took 3 days to get him signed. He even said at one point he was going to take the AZ visit. I know there are a lot of back & forth in contract talks. However, it is always the same with Webster. He has NO sense of urgency to get anything done. This is the same guy who was "not concerned about Marcus missing a few days of training camp if a contract cannot get done." A rookie Franchise QB who you know you are starting day one. Yet you do not care if he misses a few days of camp?!!!

How can you defend this guy and his laid back style of addressing our needs? It is an absolute joke every year at signing time. We fumble through signings that should get done easily. The Mariota contract hold up was about "Off set language". Webster wanted to be sure Mariota could not double dip if we cut him. That is nuts! This is the guy HE just dubbed the face of the franchise. You are concerned about cutting him before his contract is up???? It is just the ignorant things like this that keep holding this team back. We take too long to get things done that other teams address aggressively. I mean Winston signed the day after the draft. Seemed that way anyhow. We stretch out the signing of our QB until the day before camp starts??

I am sick of the lack or urgency this team constantly shows under Webster's lead. He has had 5yrs to improve this team. Where have we gone? We are STILL asking what the identity of this team really is. If the GM cannot map out the identity of his team in 5yrs there is a BIG issue. How can you even start to build a team without knowing the identity you are trying to form?? I know you have to adjust to the players you have. However, if you have a clear plan; you build on that plan. Not just pick athletic people who run fast.

Sorry I cannot and will not get behind Webster as GM for another year. It is a HUGE mistake; that will set us back much more than another year.

Guy visits on a Wednesday and signs on a Friday. That is not an eternity.

If he had missed a 3 days of camp, we wouldn't know the difference.

No, we didn't. Take a Valium.

You wanted us to pass on Mariota and give Mettenberger "another chance." So, I have to respectively say you're the last person who should be throwing darts at Webster....especially in regards to taking Mariota. There was a lot pressure NOT to take him, from NFL pundits and fans just like yourself. So, chalk up one win for Webster and one loss for you. :)

I have not been particularly fond of Webster, myself, up to this point. However, taking Mariota was risky but correct call. Most of his picks this year were solid, as were the FA moves. We still need to take OT Tunsil with our 1st pick, but we'll be pretty set, once we do. Won't HAVE to run 2 TE sets all the time, like we do now.

I think Webster is right about where Reggie McKenzie is, as a GM. Been taking a lot of heat the past few years, but his roster moves are really starting to pay off. He also needed the benefit of a good head coach to prove his metal. I'm more afraid that any new GM hire would be a bust, since there aren't that many well-regarded ones out there to choose from. At least Webster has stepped up his game this past year.

And why do we have to do that? Webster already got a franchise LT in Taylor Lewan. At least that's what he said two years ago after the pick.

    Webster sucks. Fire that bum.

What? I'm talking about taking Tunsil at OT...as in RT. Duh? Lewan had been playing with a bad shoulder much of the season. He's a damn good LT, so no Webster didn't blow it on that one, genius.

Dude wants to spend the first pick in the draft on a RT.

Morgans been injured, regardless hes played well this season when hes played. Pretty effective. Injuries are also pretty random.

OLB could have been handled thru the draft, but there were a couple other FAs out there. McPhee, Sheard, Graham?, Trent Cole. Orakpo he got at a really good price.

Anyways my bigger point is the draft is a freaking crapshoot. Look at the Seahawks for a good example. They were "great at drafting" and had the best front office right? Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, Chancellor, Richard Sherman, Byron Maxwell, Russel Wilson, Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner all in the period of three drafts? They must have some kind of secret formula and really know how to draft players.

Well look how they've done after. Starting in 2013 wasted a first and a third? on Percy Harvin. Another 1st on the criminally underused Graham. Christine Michael in the second whose somehow been worse than Sankey and is not even on the team anymore. Then a bunch of nonames and I can't even recognize half of them. I don't even know how many of these scrubs are still on their roster.

Here is the list of players the great Seahawks front office has drafted in 2013 and 2014:
    262Christine MichaelRBTexas A&M
    387Jordan HillDTPenn State
    4123Chris HarperWRKansas State

    5172Jimmy StatenDTMiddle Tennessee State
    6199Garrett ScottTMarshall
    6208Eric PinkinsDBSan Diego State
    7227Kiero SmallFBArkansas

If the draft wasn't so random you wouldn't see "steals" like Shermn, Chacellor, and Maxwell in the 5th round. If Seattle was really high on any of these players they would have drafted them in the first round. You really think they're sitting there "we really like this guy Sherman, think he can be a #1 CB, but we're gonna wait for the 5th round to draft him cause we don't think anyone else likes him?"

I'm not even a Webster fan. Fire him idc, bring in a new GM who wants to pick his coach. Thats fine with me, I understand that. His biggest mistake imo is Wisenhunt, and thats fair. Wisenhunt was widely thought of as the best of the bunch there, but in the end its still on Websters watch.

Just feels weird to fire him after his most successful FA+Draft.

Edit: formatting came out horrible, hope its legible.
