A GM who drafted and acquired terrible WR's. The same GM who has done the same thing with the OL. And the RB's. The WR's were so bad they couldn't even make this horrible team. That's a phenomenally bad statement of our personnel skills.

Yeah, I'm already worried about WR next year. Seems very unlikely we can improve that group via draft OR FA. Weak pools at both levels. Need to pray DGB takes a big step forward next season.

 

It was pretty clear to me that this team is all about numbers instead of true chemistry. Hakeen Nicks for some stupid reason didn't make the team and got cut. From the three training camp practices I went too, he was clearly Mariota's favorite target. While yes he was somewhat of a question mark.... Why you cut him and don't ask or simply don't understand what MM thought is a problem. While on the other hand it's a business that is being ran by people who aren't good at evaluating receivers, running backs, or offensive players for that matter. Doublebedge sword that is hurting this team. They've got to make changes.

As for FA running backs. I think you have to give CJ another look if he's interested, also look at Lamar Miller. Sankey needs new scenery, then have Cobb or Andrews battle it out the rest of this season. Don't throw big money at it just yet. Main focus has to be Oline then receiver. Until we get a solid blocking unit up front it will be hard to evaluate any back behind garbage.

 

why is it i really don't like Cobb? He seems like Jevon Ringer to me but significantly worse.aqa

 

I honestly believe it's a couple of things. 1. Consistently drafting poor
2. He doesn't have anything "exciting" to offer.

I just want to see what he has to offer outside of pre-season play. Let's see what kind of vision he has (gotta blank out the line play occasionally) and see that fight after contact like we saw early on. He isn't going to wow you, but he should be able to consistently get better each carry throughout a game. But yes, I understand why anyone would feel prematurely let down with the draft selection(s).

 

The same nicks who tried out for a few teams before ending up back with the giants for a total of 4 yards? Yeah, that guy would have been awesome....
