I'll play along. So LeBeau stays when we hire Payton, but he is 70 something. So What happens when LeBeau eventually leaves?

Not sure. If I was Payton/New GM I would be looking for his protege much like the Steelers did.

My thoughts that I would like to see:

    CEO/GM Bill Polian
    HC Sean Payton
DC Horton/ LaBeau (while he is still here)
    OC ??????? Payton's call

Good article! Is there a reason we arent talking about Doug Marrone here??

I more or less forgot about him, my main guy was hue jackson, but heck Marone would be a good guy to get as well. Perhaps Nashville more of the type of place he wants to bring his family and set roots down than buffalo.

Hopped ship on the bills and still got paid, followed it up by awful interview with Jets. That really the guy you want at the helm with a young franchise qb to groom? Take a long hard look in the mirror before answering.

Payton has won a super bowl. He is an offensive coach who is a proven winner. The Saints were the laughing stock of the league before he and Brees got there. I don't think Payton would come in wanting to change the defensive staff.

Hopefully the front office can resign DL for another season or two. Even if he does retire it's not like Horton hasn't had good defenses in the past.

None of the coaches mentioned in the Mort & Shefter article have anywhere near the proven winning record that Payton does. If he becomes available then he should be the coach that the Titans target.

Yes, the Titans are a small market team. They have a young franchise Qb, a pro bowl tight end. A couple of young first round offensive linemen, a top ten defense that features a pro bowl defensive lineman, a pro bowl outside linebacker, a solid young inside linebacker, and a couple of solid corners. Not to mention a top 5 pick in next year's draft. You are right, they have nothing to offer to get a quality coach to Tennessee.

Hi everyone, first post here so forgive me but... Jim Schwartz anyone? As has been discussed DL is 70 years old. And while that isn't exactly a bad thing I think whoever comes in will make changes at every coaching position at this point. So why not bring in a coach that knows the organization number 1, has built a quality defense here 2, and we have the personal for the 4-3 more than the defense we are playing at the moment. Yes I agree a quality offensive coordinator would have to be part of the package. Someone else I could live with is Hue Jackson. I really don't want to see a Patriot coach here, they haven't worked out well anywhere. JMO
