Chip Kelly would ruin the one bright spot of this team, and that's the defense.

As good as the defense is, you know how defenses look when they play gassed for 3 and half quarters. That's what would happen here.

He would also probably trade away Wright, Casey and Walker. Cause you know, Chip Kelly doesn't want star players, he wants to be the king of the anthill.

Defense has played well this year with limited talent, but I just do not see many if any bright spots other than MM. We have to draft better! Period! No 4th round FB, and blown wr and rb picks early in draft.

We need an NFL coach, not a college "genius" system coach. We also need someone who will be the head coach, not a head coach who wants to be offensive coordinator too.

And there is a reason every college head coach since Jimmy Johnson has ended up back in college.

No I do not think Whiz should have gotten more time. I look at this like equity. Kelly has equity built-up to pay for a longer bid because he actually has TWO WINNING SEASONS. Whiz on the other hand doesn't have any. One coach can turn around and point to some level of recent success whereas the other can't.

There is no doubt this team is better this year than the team last year. However, is that because of the influx of talent or coaching? I believe the general consensus is that it's due more to the influx of talent than talent than coaching. My basis on this is because how we lost. Outside of the Miami and Browns game we lost most of our games due to poor coaching. This happened to us against the Colts, Bills, and Falcons. How many 3rd downs and forevers did we give up this year? 3??? Each costing us the game. Yes I get it that he doesn't control of the defense but as head coach you must have oversight. Those should not have happened and certainly should not have happened 3 times in 3 different games. So in my opinion, this is all the reasons that support why Whiz should have been gone.

It was more about players being in a position where they have to read and react versus just shooting one gap. This concept also ties directly into what your linebackers do and wether or not they have to fight through blocks and the holes in the defense that get created as a result. With teams spreading the ball out more, one system is more suited to stopping the run whereas the other is more suited to stopping the pass.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm a DC or having knowledge to anything close to that. What I can say is this is what came from Dick in very brief interview. I can also say a buddy of mine follows the 49ers. They went from a 2-gap 3-4 front to a 1-gap and that's when their defense shot up to a top 5 defense.

I laughed at this post because its true they did suck donk balls to put it in your words. However, I never said that coaches should not tailor their system to their team. I agree 100% that a coach should and must tweak his system to fit the personnel of his players. That doesn't mean that coaches ever stop looking for players that are a better fit. This was the point with Shady McCoy and why he became a expendable in the Eagles system.

So in short, I agree with everything you are saying. My main point is that everything is not just black and white like many of the posters are trying to make things seem.

Chip Kelly main problem is less about the overall set of players he has on his team. He has a QB crisis. So when asked if Whiz should have gotten more time. In my opinion hell no! Again, this has less to do with the system. Whiz last year got more time because he didn't have a QB. He went out and drafted Marcus. Many of us believe Marcus will be a great QB for this franchise. So Marcus is now one of the franchises most valuable assets. Whiz failed to protect his most valuable asset. In Whiz's case you can point back and say he had OL issues at EVERYTEAM he was the HC or OC. Couple that with the fact that he doesn't really have a proven track record as an HC with any QB not named Warner. Then combine all that with that fact the this team was losing games it should not have been. Whiz being fired was due to everything and not one thing in particular.

Chip Kelly is losing because he doesn't have a QB. Everyone know Sanchez is not the answer. Everyone knows that Bradford is not the answer. We also know that Foles was not the answer. The fact that those QBs look as good as they did/do is because Chip Kelly's system is a QB friendly system. So in my opinion Chip Kelly as a coach is night and day different than Whiz. The issues Whiz have should have gotten him fired fired and it's silly to bring up Whiz when discussing Chip (not directed to you @GoT ). You didn't do it but I think the two are night and day and the issues they are having is not even remotely related.

I don't know much about the 49'ers, but a 2-gap defense requires very special players on the DL (especially Vince Wilfork type NTs are hard to find) so it makes sense that switching to something easier probably fitted their players better.

Oh what you say is definitely true. I was just using that as a hypothetical scenario because that's the current trend in the NFL in regards of 3-4 fronts.

In reality running a 2-Gap is extremely hard because it's hard to find the players as you've pointed out. In fact this is one of the things Big Al pointed out when he was asked to play nose guard at Washington. This is one of the things that contributed to why his performance fell off a cliff. After that he just lost his passion for football.
