Disagree. You get a top 3 pick trade back a bit, still get your guy, plus some extra earlier round picks to fill more holes.

The higher pick helps for sure. But you need a FO that knows what they're doing to actually execute it

Orakpo had 11 sacks as a rookie playing as a 4-3 end. I think he would be fine in any scheme.

I can't imagine any 260 lb edge rusher not preferring the 4-3 since they get to come up the field every down where in the 3-4 they are in coverage 1/3 of the time. Almost any player would rather rush the QB.

I'm sure the fact he was going to nave another quality player on the other side helped. He wouldn't want to be doubled every game. Not sure why the skins would not try harder to keep him and Kerrigan together.

Its actually somewhat of a treat when pass rushers get to drop back, one less play they have to go all out for and possibly get a rare INT.

Hearing Orakpo talk about the 34 sounds like he really prefers it to the 43...

    This issue is simple.

Higher draft pick = more draft options. Period. More players to choose from each round, higher opportunities for trades, etc.

I don't think any sensible person would say lose simply to achieve the above but winning now is not going to "change the culture" with a new HC and GM (and President) coming on board after this season.

It is imperative we establish a body of work to best assess our younger players and determine if they are capable of meeting our needs. This will provide a blueprint for the new administration and coaches. If it comes at the expense of a W, it is far more worth it IMO. If we win while doing it, all the better. We won't really be hurt by a win or two because we already have the most important piece, a franchise QB.

I have very little confidence our current ownership has the necessary NFL experience and "connections" to land a solid president. We'll have to see. If I were an owner, I'd offer Peyton a package that included stock incentives. I think Peyton has the cache, drive and experience to turn this organization around. And I think it could happen in about 3 years. I have serious doubts that anybody else will be able to do it before 7 years, much less before we are at the end of Mariota's contract.

You mean trading back like we did for Sankey, or Hunter?

Id just rather see a few more wins a year than celebrating the draft again like usual.

Lets face it, draft season is the best time to be a fan of TN, because once September rolls in its all down hill from there.. I guess you do have something of a point, why not really make the most of the draft by owning the most picks.

The picks are only worth as much as who is picking. Our top priority is to get scouts, player personnel and GM straightened out.

    See my post above.

5 of the top 10 picks in the draft are usually busts or disappointments. Trading back for more picks seems like a good idea.

Again we had posters talking about wanting us to NOT make the playoffs 3 games ago. Those are not fans!

I suppose and a 3-4 backer will get TEs and fullbacks blocking him on running plays more often. Orakpo has been in the 3-4 since 2010 so that is what he is most accustomed to. If he needs a blow rest him some on running downs so he is fresh to rush the passer. I can't see how covering RBs and fast TEs as a break.

If we had a real chance at the playoffs no doubt we should throw everything we have into winning. It definitely would have changed the culture here.

My philosophy shifted greatly with this loss to the Jags. It really was "business as usual". Mularkey screwed the pooch for himself with that conservative FG call.
