I'm on the same page - though maybe for a little different reason. Yes, that 'trick' was lame but totally expected.. That character is such a bore though at this point. Kill them and kill them off for good!

    I'm torn...

such a cop-out, but I also like Glenn.

So I'm upset and relieved at the same time...

    WHAT A SHOCKER!

The fact that they're spinning off the show kinda tells me that this one is losing steam. There are only so many main characters you can kill off season by season, until they're all gone. Without a character dying, faking the audience out and leaving them hanging is the only way to generate buzz. Quite lame, IMO.

Their repetitive formula: Wait til the end of the season.. another main character dies, people whine all over social media.. rinse and repeat next season.

    My thing is...
... don't compromise the integrity of the world you've built for the sake of some cheap emotional ploy. I do realize at the end of the day it's a silly show about zombies. But escaping that situation, with literally like 50 walkers on top of you, is just impossible for me to buy. They've spent all this time framing this as this crazy dangerous world where one momentary lapse of awareness can be your demise. Yet when they see an opportunity to generate a big buzz among the fanbase all that apparently goes right out the window.

I like Glenn too, but it was just super, super lame to me.

IMO there are main characters, and then there are main characters. The main characters have become apparent over the past few seasons and are seemingly untouchable...

... which is exactly why Glenn's death would've been a nice kick in the pants to the fanbase.

    I agree and disagree.
The show is MASSIVELY popular and has an entire culture of obsessive fans locked in. I work several horror trades a year and TWD continues to be by far the hugest draw. FtWD and the other new AMC zombie show can be directly attributed to the strong popularity and staying power of TWD - so I wouldn't say losing steam applies here..
It is a divisive show - and is becoming more-so by the week. And that comes with the territory at this level of popularity. Funny because most who outright hate it that I know simply never watched it.
FWIW this season is of course flawed, but it is in many ways one of the best to date and no doubt a seasonal death quota will likely be met this coming episode.

oh yeah, it's still definitely huge, even at comic cons, there is all kinds of stuff pertaining to the TV show. I've personally been over the show for a good while now, but a lot of people are still way into it. The formula just got stale to me.

By main, I mean people who were around since the first few seasons. Lori, Shane, Carol, Andrea, Even Herschel and co. I would consider main characters. Not top tier like Rick, and Daryl for some reason, but main enough to get people all riled up on tw@tter and facebook.

but they always throw in these do-nothing characters every season just to be obvious zombie or murder fodder, like the surviving inmates at the prison.
