That was actually the combo I wanted before we hired Whisenhunt

LeBeau has really helped our defense take the next level and is one of the best defensive coached of all time but I wonder how much of an effect he has had vs the talent on the field just getting better.

This season we added Orakpo, Cox, and Sercy who were all upgrades over in the respective incumbents at their positions . Casey and Morgan are in their second year adjusting to playing in a 34 front; then add in the fact that Williamson and Jones are in their sophomore seasons and that makes up 5/7 of your defensive front that would have been better with or with out LeBeau.

I would like to keep tricky Dicky but idk if Id make it a priority in my coaching search.

You're absolutely right. Zach Brown gets a lot of snaps at ILB. I honestly wish Brown was on the field less. Watching Brown play I do not see the level of play you would expect from a guy who has been in the dog house, and is in a contract year.

I credit LeBeau & Woodyard for the improvements in Woodyards' game. He did not play that well last year. Maybe it was just a down year, learning a new system, getting too many snaps; whatever the reason he looks much different this year.

I am praying that whoever is brought in for the HC job; they have enough sense to realize that the defense needs to stay intact. There are some key players that need to be upgraded (Griffin for example); however the coaching staff has done a phenomenal job in turning this group around. Last year was a rough defensive year. LeBeau has taken much the same roster and made it better. Much Better.

I agree and disagree. Cox has not played in many games this year at all. Most of the season we have had to play our back ups in the secondary. Searcy did not make for much of an improvement to start the year, but is coming along. Jones becoming a starter was a decision made by the coaching staff before the season started. LeBeau is in charge of defense; and I believe he made that decision.

I agree that the team should of been better in the 2nd year of the system. Orakpo has definitely made an impact. Morgan is still playing at the same level he was IMO. Right now he still has only 4.5 sacks, but is putting pressure on the QB.

I think that once this defense was a liability to this team. In fact is was last year. Now we see guys fighting and showing effort on almost every defensive snap. I believe that is in large part due to LeBeau. The players respect, and want to play well for him. I do believe the next HC should look at the system and say: I got enough to fix on offense. If it ain't broke I am not going to attempt to fix it.

We need front offense fix. Stanford head coach David Shaw is well worth millions over his salary now; Time to get real owners:swear:

LOL...would be nice, but wishful thinking IMO. We blew our chance at him by getting in too big of a hurry back in 2014
