Nothing to be concerned about. Filmmakers challenge themselves to shoot a movie with a static background and there are a few great films for the trouble. Glengarry Glen Ross is a great example. 12 Angry Men, Rear Window are others. I liked Devil though it reminded me a bit of The Cube..

I liked Devil also, despite my apprehension towards having MNS's name on it.

Never heard of The Cube, but read the synopsis and it sounds like 13 Ghosts.

Barnes & Noble currently has 50% off their Criterion Collection. If you're not familiar, Criterion basically created the "special edition" of owning a film. So if you're looking to own any classic or really good movies that may be hard to find, you may be in luck.

Looking at the collection. I didn't know 3:1o To Yuma had a much older version. I'll have to check it out.

Ironically in two consecutive posts you mention remakes of classics.
Delmer Daves, the master of the 50's western made 3:10 to Yuma which was Glenn Ford's most well known cowboy romp.
13 Ghosts was a classic William Castle flick from the late 50's. Most know this flick from the image of the overlaid headless lion trainer - and of course that same goofy skeleton seen in every William Castle movie.

Criterion is just a distribution co that selects films that they deem classics. Pretty much the same films they show on TCM..

I do agree the 13 Ghost remake is a little bit like Cube and I'm certain they borrowed more from Cube than the original 13 Ghosts.
I'd guess Cube was a large influence on the original Saw films as well.

Watched The Stanford Prison Experiment over the weekend.
Avoided this one for a while thinking it was another remake of "The Experiment"
but while all these films are based off that experiment, the others seemed to be a bit more fantasy/modern vs this one felt a bit more like what an actual university level experiment might look like.
Although there is a good bit of suspension of logic needed to buy in here - this ultimately is pretty tense film with some really good performances by Michael Angano and the rest of the guards/inmates.
If you've seen The Experiment movies you won't be surprised by much here but if you haven't seen them this might be a pretty wild, unexpected ride..

    Thoughts from the trailer.

    -Black Panther looks amazing

-Winter Soldier/Cap fight against Iron Man was the most depressing yet awesome 5 seconds ever

    -Scarlet Witch can fly now?

-Looks like Falcon became a legit threat in combat

-I hope we don't see any Spider-Man until the film is released

-Russ Brothers cinematography magic looks like it continues

-Where will Crossbones play into this? Martin Freeman?

-Hard to gauge the timeline of the film, I like that
