So I was watching some Cam highlights last night but since I havent been paying attention to him I don't understand his success. We know that both AFC and NFC South have been really weak; as a result the highlight reels depict him as a tremendous downfield passer and eagle-eyed running back. The scores, however, tell a different story as the scores remain close with the exception of a 14 point lead over TB and an 11 point lead over GB. These don't seem like insurmountable odds given the shot-in-the-arm we've been given in coaching and roster changes.

It's their defense that's really good. Cam is good too, but man that defense tho...

I'm excited to see Webb and Riggs again. Hoping we found a few diamonds, or at least replacements for BWW and Sensabaugh

traveling to Nashville for the game this week. I'm really looking forward to it. Any suggestions on places to go Saturday night and where to go for good tailgates on Sunday would be appreciated!

As for the game, I honestly don't know much about you guys. Appears you have a solid defense and a rising star in Mariotta.
    Breakdown of my Panthers

QB- Cam doesn't look great on the stat sheets but just carries a team. He reminds me of Russell Wilson in that regard. Cam has great touch on deep passes but struggles with intermediate routes. That is due to poor mechanics. He throws off his back foot a lot. He is always a threat to run and on short yardage plays is usually calling his own number.

RB- Jonathan Stewart is solid but unspectacular. He has a knack for picking up 3 to 4 yards right up the gut. Doesn't have speed to the outside and you won't see him break off a long run. Will fumble the ball. FB is Mike Tolbert. He is a bowling ball and will catch passes out of the back field.

OL. This had previously been a huge weakness but this year has been solid. Oher is actually playing very well. Our guards, especially Trai Turner and our center Kalil are pro bowl caliber. Their strength has been pass blocking. Cam has enjoyed good protection.

WR. Much maligned but producing. Ginn and Brown will likely start. They are better than given credit for but certainly not great receivers. We also have Cotchery and rookie Funchess. Cam does a good job spreading the balls around and none of these guys will be the dominate receiver. Ginn and Brown have good speed and look for several deep passes to them.

TE. Greg Olsen is a pro bowler. Great hands and average speed but knows how to get open. He is The primary receiving target. Favorite play is a seam route right down the middle of the field.

DL. We lost our best DE but we have a lot of decent guys who put pressure on the quarterback. Kony Ealy is solid. We like to blitz a lot. Our DT Kawaan Short is having a huge year. Very good at rushing the QB. He is a pro bowler

LB. arguably the best in the league. Kuechly is Kuechly. Very smart, high motor kind of guy. Thomas Davis is one of the best 4-3 OLBs in the league. Big hitter who is having a pro bowl caliber year. Rookie Shaq Thompson flashes great play but is still learning.

DB. Josh Norman has become a shutdown corner. One of the best in the league. Seattle and Philly just chose not to throw his way. Charles Tillman is the other corner. Old but solid. Safety is the weak spot on this team. Roman Harper is old and does not have great cover skills. Kurt Coleman is slow and doesn't cover well.

Special teams. Ginn returns kicks and is very good. Gano is a good kicker and Nortman is an excellent punter.

To beat us, you need to contain the run, force Cam to pass and prevent the deep passes. Don't waste your time throwing at Norman. Pick on Tillman and our nickel. The big issue with our defense is very little quality depth. That is why IMHO we have blown leads late. Our starters are playing the whole game and are worn down late.

Good luck guys. I'm looking forward to going to Nahville this weekend. Hope the Panthers go 9-0!

I don't understand some of these comments. You look at Cam highlights and then talk about scoring differential and don't understand what is special about the Panthers. Another poster says it's the D giving them the wins.

The Panthers score more than 28 a game on avg, good for 4th in the league, so yeah, Cam and the O have done their part. The D has been very good but have given up late points the last 2 games.

They are 8-0 because they are a solid, well-balanced team.

Cam is good, but losing Benjamin for the year really hurt that offense. Outside of Olsen, there isn't much to throw to. Plus, that D is nasty. The Panthers were always the NFC team I'd root for, was bummed when the pats beat them in the Super Bowl.

That said, beating them would be massive. Can't remember the last time this team had back to back wins. Damn that's sad.
