What would Mularkey have to do to become full-time HC in 2016?

He got one season with a terrible Jags team. He was one game shy of making the playoffs his first year as HC with the Bills and his offense was ranked 7th overall. That was the Bills last winning season until last year.

Holcomb had some interesting comments but I can't seem to find them. He basically placed a lot of the blame on the management and ownership for Mularkey's 5-11 second season with the Bills.

I'm not saying he's the answer but his track record isn't as bad as the numbers show.

 

Win a playoff game


I feel like we should be able to attract a pretty good coach with our defense, Marcus and a pretty high draft pick coming up. Plus if all of those high picks on OL play up to their billing we shouldn't be that far away. So I think Mularkey has to prove that he is the guy by winning a playoff game.

 

I wonder: was Horton asked if he wanted the job at any time on Monday? If so, did he make a (temporary) decline because Whiz brought him to Tennessee?

Whomever it is this year or next, we need someone who knows how to protect our QB and can MOTIVATE the players. Whiz is a robot; it's no wonder he fails to get his SuperGeniusUltraScheme to work.

 

Into the play-offs utter bare minimum. I'd much prefer that we made a clean sweep starting with Webster and working all the way down on the O side of the ball. We need fresh ideas and a fresh start ; not sure that HCMM fits that last criteria.

Keep Horton and LeBeau if we can. Making good progress on the D side of the ball.

 

Mularkey will not be the coach next year....Bank on it.

 

It will be interesting to see what Mularkey can do for the rest of this season.

As an OC in Atl, he had a lot of success working with Matt Ryan. I would like to see if he can have similar success with MM.

And I don't think he has ever really gotten a fair shot at HC. In Jax, he inherited Blaine Gabbert as his starting QB, and was only give 1 season to turn that mess of a franchise around ... With the Bills he had 1 winning season (9-7) and his next year had QB issues as well.

Our QB situation is much more stable than what he had at either of his last 2 HC gigs. If he can have the same success with MM as he did with Matt Ryan, then we might win some games this year.

If he could get us to 7-9, I would really consider bringing him back. Any less than that, and I say we just start fresh.
