Yeah...contracts can be broken though. He can be bought out.

Regarding improvement...he inherited a 7-9 team and drove them to 2-14. Improvement is a relative term, and the bar for this season is pretty low. Meanwhile, he is still showing some of the bad tendencies that I saw last season.

My only point is this....if he looks like he is not panning out, why prolong the inevitable? Cut the losses sooner rather than later.

I have no beef canning Whiz if we end up 6-10 or worse, dumping coaches in season only a year after they arrive hurts your chances at anyone good when you start the next coaching search

Philbin should have never been hired. He was the offensive coordinator for a team(Packers) where the head coach basically runs the offense. So why would he get credit?

The fins are one of those teams the last couple of years that get hyped when they play well for a few games. Suddenly Philbin is a genius and their QB a stud. But they have played well only 1/3 of the time.

Should have never been hired and should have been fired sooner.

Anything less than 8-8 should get him fired. I'm sure if we go 7-9 people will say he was a genius for winning 5 more games than last year but last year was an abortion.

I agree with one season being too fast....and I used to agree that coaches needed 3 years. However, when expectations on skill players (such as QBs) by coaches ratcheted down from a couple of seasons to being ready day one, my opinion changed. If coaches can expect QBs to be ready on day one, I think that the standard for said coaches can be revised as well.

the 3-year waiting plan is for QBless teams, but if you have a QB you should be beating on the door relatively fast. All of last years playoff teams QB's made the playoffs within 2-years of taking over for their programs. When Whisenhunt drafted Mariota he basically went back to year-1.

If Whiz shows us he's a .500 ball coach I will wait for Mariota to come along to take us to the next level, Whiz gets to come along for the ride..

Make no mistake, everyone will live or die by Mariota, we will only be as good as he makes us... Which I personally believe is pretty damn good.

I just don't see where this comes from: he had nothing to do with the success of Kurt Warner/Phillip Rivers/Big Ben, those cats were already very good. But what has he done with all of those other guys that he brought on board?

If he was such a Whiz, he would have done wonders with a scrub or 3rd tier guy.

All good coaches have a good QB ... Hard for a coach to be good without having the most important position on the field solidified.

Hopefully Whiz and MM can become that winning combo

Hang on, how did he not have anything to do with Roethlisbergers development?

He was his coordinator his first 3 seasons..

My argument against this is the fact that when he does have the QB, his offenses are successful. Warner and Ben both saw the SB with Whiz.

Some coaches can have the tools (a qb) and still underachieve. He isnt a coach that can take a scrub QB and make something out of it, but those types of coaches are far and in between.

We scored 40+ in the first game, 30+ the last game. When you score that much, you should win.

Improve this offensive line and the defense, and the fans will line up to like Whiz imo.
