But that's when our regime drafting WR's comes into play. Kendall, Justin, DGB all were drafted by Webster. I think there is a trend there. If they replace hunter it will e with a draft pick imo

U might be right...may Tre Mcbride starts to come on as well...But Hunter is playing horribly...I think we try and trade him for a late rd pick or we cut him....I feel like Nicks would've had more catches then Hunter at this point

Why do people think Hunter is playing terribly right now, just because they haven't thrown to him often doesn't necessarily say anything like that, if running a route that is the 3rd or 4th read for the QB opens up his 1st or 2nd read and he goes throws to them then the guy running that route has done his job, WR isn't all about getting open and making catches, even if that's all most fans care about.

Put it like this...the position is called Wide Receiver for a reason. He was a high draft pick that we traded for to get...the expectations are for him to average one catch a game. While WR "isn't all about getting open and making catches" that is the primary responsibility of the position. If he was getting open more I'm sure Mariota would pass it to him...I think we lead the league in most players on the team receiving at least 1 catch this season.

It could also be a case that Mariota doesn't fully trust him? I'm speculating on that end.

What I was trying to say is that there are nuances to an offense on how the routes affect a defense and this is something that appears to be more important in the passing game we're using right now than it is for most teams. I agree that getting open and catching the ball is a WR's primary job, but the hate for Hunter on this site is irrational or at least based on inaccurate perceptions of how an offense works as a whole.

Hunter usually is sent on longer routes that would be the 3rd or 4th read, with the way our offense is run he'll be thrown to less because of this, but it clears some space for the 6 yard throws Whis goes to so often that are thrown before he has the time to have finished his route, he's been making plays and had a couple of ridiculous catches against the colts, he got hurt last season and he's been doing a good job at what they've asked him to do this season.

We have so many different people with a catch because the offense is designed to be that way, I think that the play calling choices made within the offense are often very poor but that's how our passing game is designed to work so when you evaluate a players performance you need to do so within the framework of what the role they play in the offense is.

Once teams adjust to what we're throwing to now the deeper stuff will be thrown to more often since that's what'll be open. If he struggles with getting open after that happens then you'll be able to judge based on a full view of his ability rather than one limited by the offensive scheme
