Very rarely do you see a new coach turn a loosing team around to a winning team in a matter of 1 season.

Let's face the facts.. The Titans are SMALL MARKET. It's going to take several years to get it back on its feet. Once there, there will be a small window (maybe 2 seasons) in which to get it done and make a run. After that, it will be hard not to have a downward trend.

As a NFL football fan spanning nearly 4 decades, I don't know how special fans really understood the 99' season was. I started off as a Bengals fan in the 1980's, and watched them go to the SuperBowl in 81, and they have only been to the SuperBown 1 other time in 88'.

If the Titans can make it back to the Superbowl 1 time in the next few decades, that will probably be par for the course for the type team it is.

Look at the bright side... It's been 6 years since we've had a playoff birth... It could be worse like the Raiders (12) or Bills who haven't been there in 15 years... lol

I am not upset at him, he is just not a good HC IMO. He is like a younger version of Norv Turner....great with developing QBs, good OC, and someone you would think should be a good HC...except that he is not.

I agree that he is doing a good job with Mariota so far, and if he was the QBs coach or OC that would be great. But as the HC he has to take it up another notch, and he has done nothing so far to show me that (quite the opposite actually).

Also agree about the outlook of the team....definitely more talent than last season. However, as I said previously, I think that in the end Whis is going to hold this team back, much like Turner did in his stints in Washington and San Diego. I would love him as an OC, but that is not what he is supposed to be with this team.

It is not about the record, it is all about seeing the same troubling gameday issues with this team as I saw last year. Talent is hiding it a bit more so far, but the issues are there. Slow playcalls, bad play calls, poor game management, etc.... Has nothing to do with how big the market is.

First off, Marcus Mariota hasn't been "fixed" by Whiz. He came like this.

2nd, Whiz turned an average 8-8 7-9 team into a poorly coached perennial loser.

I think there's a few guys here who are giving Whiz the credit for MM, which he clearly doesn't deserve. He's clearly destroyed our running game and downfield passing.

Thats fine, but his primary goal ATM should be getting Mariota up to speed and I think hes done a good job of that so far. I'll see how he does in postseason when we've actually got mature talent on this team, we're still so young and lacking an identity.

As much as I want to get pissed at this team, the truth is they are starting to be competitive again.

The owner(s) can do what they want, and fire him at the end of this season. However, if the team continues to show improvement, it's going to be a hard argument to pay a coach to do nothing after he's fired. Kinda what happened with Fisher.. We paid him not to coach the following season.. It's just money down the drain.

I believe he has a 5 year contract, and will likely get all of that time to get it done. Barring something really bad happens like robbing a bank.. lol
