Well to be fair many 5 wide sets would include a RB or TE.

This works indeed for QBs with lots of experience who can anticipate when and where their receivers get open. It is more difficult for a rookie to execute it at the pro level. Also, you don't need to go 5 wide to beat blitzes. You should have receivers and TEs winning one on one match-ups all day. The Browns did it when we blitzed. Problem is we do not have good receivers at this point. DGB can't run routes, Hunter gets pushed around by pretty much anybody, Wright is more of a slot receiver or a #2 and Douglas is similar to Wright but with less big play ability.
Our offense will be really good when DGB gets up to speed and Hunter stops playing like a girl.

This does not work against every defense. Ask Brady about SB 42. The Giants continuously knocked him on his ass by rushing 4.

An effective option to beat blitzs are running screen plays. We haven't done that quite yet. We almost had one, but Warmack whiffed on a block.
