When will Mariota surpass them?

DW thinks you have to make it look hard for him to be impressed. Forget about doing all the little things right so you don't have to throw up prayers and hail mary's at the end of games. Somehow to him a TD is worth more if it comes at the end while trailing. It's stupid ass hell to knock Mariota, but DW chooses the road less traveled on a regular basis, right or not... Usually not

 

If he looked like sh$t and still mustered up a 96 QB rating and 2TDs then I'll take it!

I guess that means when he looks good and the line isn't getting him hammered into the ground he should have an average QB rating of what 120 with 3-4 TD's?

 

When I read the OP I didn't think there was any way VY only threw 12 TDs as a career high. Looked it up, and that was in his rookie year. My god it has been a long time since we've had anything that resembled a 21st century passing game.

 

Yeah and MM8 has 6 in two games, I bet he could have had more that 1st game if he wasn't taken out. But let's not count the positives here. DW's expert analysis says MM8 was terrible and the poor O line is no excuse for week 2?

Hmmm, let's see, O line blocked good 1st game and he was sharp 4 TDs and 3 incompletions. Game 2, he was hit numerous times and sacked 7 but still threw 2 TDs. Correlation? Good blocking = great play. Makes sense right?

Wasn't Mariota's best game but he was under constant pressure all of the first half and was hearing footsteps. Still had a 96.3 QB rating which based on last years QBR would put him as a top 10 QB. Not bad for a rookie with limited talent around him.

 

He missed some easy throws blah blah blah.

The dude came up huge for us on 3rd and 4th down when we needed it most and made money throws when we needed it most.

Name the last Titans QB to do that! Mariota certainly wasn't flawless, but he stepped up when we needed him. Probably would have tied it if it weren't for that long TD pass at the end of the game

 

Everyone but the Browns on field looked like crap. The bottom line is on that particular Sunday coming off a deeply satisfying victory over the Bucs and Browns coming off a deeply dissatisfying loss to the Jets. Victory wasn't in the cards. One team was dialed in. One wasn't.. It was very clear which team that was. These things happen from time to time. But I believe they got the Titans attention and you will see a much better performance this next week versus the Colts.

With that said, I do agree with you. Protection aside, Mariota wasn't very good last weekend. He would be the first one to tell you that. I will say this, if he can't get anymore protection than he did get he will be ruined. He took an absolute thrashing last weekend. Emotionally and physically it will eventually take it's toll him.

 

It been a long time since we've had a football team, let alone a passing game.

 

I'm not calling him a bust until he busts.

He's shown me enough to let up off that. But this last game was bad on his part.

Did he even attempt to pass it to someone other than a tight-end?
