Mariota best start for a rookie debut

I think the game went exactly as expected minus "rookie jitters" for our guy.

You can't overstate Mariota's impact on the game.

If we have sloppy QB play, this game is not a blowout.

 

Guys I had to stop by and say "wow".

I know I don't post here a lot but really had to make an exception today.

1. Congratulations to Whiz for completely hiding this offense in the preseason. Had no idea this was coming and everyone who bitched all spring about how Whiz "would never adapt his offense to someone like Mariota", EAD.
2. Mariota's play fake is just nasty, he had the CBS camera guys looking the wrong way a couple times. On the touchdown to Wright he pulled the ball out and got rid of it so fast Kendall was walking in the end zone before half the defense knew what happened.
3. Mariota's release is lightning fast, no wasted movement.
4. He did not take unnecessary risks running the ball. Should help him stay healthy.
5. I still dislike Sankey but he was able to get a little bit going. Early he was awful.
6. Pay Kendall Wright

Lastly remember to take this game by game. Mariota will struggle this season at certain points no matter how good he is but I think everyone is realizing the ceiling for this kid is much higher than a lot of people were thinking at first.

PS: Winston is trash.

Glad we are on the positive side of this.

Mariota play GREAT today.

And I think one stat being ignored is mariota's rushing yards. That he managed to play so well while rushing so little is very encouraging

 

I guess the Bucs thought that was our real offense in the preseason...

 

Yea I forgot ot say Wisenhunt called a great game today. The playbook looks 50/50 between his 'old' playbook and more MM style plays. The naked bootleg and the QB pass/option were really neat.

Mariota has a killer PA, automatically helps the pass AND the run game.

 

I've always felt and still think he is a good coach. I like him. Now he's got a quarterback. Maybe settle into a relationship with Marcus that is similar to the one Payton and Brees have and Rodgers and McCarthy have.
