Exactly what I was thinking. Besides whatever bonus has been paid already this year, everything else is cleared off the books.

Levitre got replace by Byron Bell who was the laughing stock of the league and now the Falcons traded 2 picks for him? The Titans made out like bandits!

Why are people rating this post as "Winner"? It's not true at all.

The Titans' cap implications from the trade, via OverTheCap.com:

Andy Levitre(Trade), G, Titans– Tennessee signed Levitre two years ago after a good season in Buffalo to a pretty absurd contract worth $7.8 million a year for reasons I never understood. His tenure was basically a bust and now he’s been traded to Atlanta per multiple outlets. The Titans will take on $6.3 million in dead money that will count $2.1 million against the cap in 2015 and $4.2 million next year. They will save $6.5 million this year which is the salary that the Falcons will take on assuming that no contract restructuring was done. Considering how poorly he had played I would think he may have accepted a pay cut to facilitate the trade. Id think his real worth is closer to $2.5-3.5 million.

Exactly. This is what I was saying. We take on $6.3 million in dead money, and Save $6.5 million this year, thus only saving $200,000. This is money we can't recoup because it's from his signing bonus, unless the Falcons were really stupid and paid that back to us.

So the Falcons are eating the signing bonus due to Levitre in 2016?

With two picks coming back our way, I'm betting they won't and don't and we'll still have the 4.2 on the books for Levitre next year.
