Wes Craven, Horror Maestro, Dies at 76

Passed away at 76 after succumbing to brain cancer.

A shame. Nightmare on Elm Street and New Nightmare were great, and though a lot of people hate on it I always really enjoyed Wishmaster (granted, he just produced it). Never cared for Scream though. Dude was a horror icon though, no doubt about it.

Legit bummed about this one. Such an influence on all filmmakers and horror fans. Nightmare movies, wish master, people under the stairs, hills have eyes, unappreciated classic SHOCKER. Required viewings for any horror fan.

Always sucks when an innovator dies..
Craven made a mix of decent stuff and utter crap.
Freddie starts sucking about an hour into the first movie and never recovers in any subsequent flick. Disappointing considering how great the firs hour is.
I don't think Wes did anything profound after that hour.

That said, I always loved The Hills Have Eyes and the total cheeser Deadly Blessing, which was Sharon Stone's first flick.
Last House was and still is almost impossibly too mean to watch. And of course Scream sucks.. He was all over the place but deserves his spot in any horror HOF..

Wes Craven, in my opinion, was a true innovator of the genre.

Great ideas... putting them on film was kind of hit or mostly miss.
