Okay... But taking the cap hit is essentially the same as paying him. It's money that counts against the cap... money we can't use. That's why, unfortunately, I think we keep him on the roster.

Of course Webster needs to go. I wanted him gone with Munch after 2013.

 

I think you're right in that is why Webster may keep him...but is more of an ego/money thing rather than whats best for the team. If we didn't have an interior backup who could play as well, he might have an argument. But three things are true...

First, we have at least 1 OG whos as good as him on the roster.

Second, you kill the culture of the team if you preach accountability and then pay a backup player $6.5mil to ride the bench.

Third, we should have cut him prior to the June 1 or May whatever deadline so we could have gotten him off our books so it would have been a wash in terms of cap this year and free up a ton of cap next year. Now he needs to be cut and will cost us $4+mil next year if we cut him.

Fourth, I guarantee there will be a better OL to sign after cuts who might even be able to start for us (or take a young player to develop) to take Levitre's spot.
