Under 3,000 yards is setting the bar very low. He isn't a game manager QB who might get 200 yards in a game, he's a potential star who should throw between 250-300 yards a game (Obviously not right out of the gate). I think people have a misconception about Mariota. Unlike Young and Locker who relied more on their legs, Mariota's strength is his arm. He just happens to be a good runner as well.

If that's the universal perception of him, why wasn't he taken number one instead of JaMarcus Russell 2.0? I'm a big fan obviously, but I still think he is going to struggle throwing it. We have seen some of that here in preseason. It's going to take time to really adjust to the timing of the speed of the NFL game. And it ramps up in regular season. I think there could a be a few games where he throws less than 200 yards a game and he is beating the opposition with his legs. In time he is going to improve. Some of that due the talent improving over time. Some of that because of him. But he is going to struggle. He will probably throw over 3000 yards. That's only averaging 187 yards a game. But he may no hit 4000.

he's shown to be a good passer so far..but he's not throwing close to 4000 this year.

If we're playing from behind all year then I see him passing over 3,000 yards.

Mariota is averaging over 9-yards an attempt guys, that puts him on track for a ton of yards if you didn't know. 3000-yards is way too conservative a number, even 3500 is for a QB like Mariota. If injuries don't become and issue he's going to kill it, and for a lot more than you guys are thinking.

God I hope he stays healthy, this kid could be our ticket out of football hell. Not having a QB these last 10 years didn't even have us playing the same game most of the time. It's all about finding a QB now, and Mariota is the kind of QB teams dream of one day finding...

k bravey...sure. Mariotas looked good..everyone compares him to game manager extroadinnaire Russell Wilson..I don't believe wilsons passed for 4000 yards in a season.
...maybe he did one of his years..doubt it..but the other years float around 3500

just checked..wilsons never thrown for 3500 yards
