its pretty bad our 2nd team is every bit as good as our first unit for the most part.

Figures, our FO would forget about the team within the team, so dumb.

I hope we do feature a run game with Fowler and Cobb. I havent see Fowler miss a block yet but Ive seen all of our TE's miss so Id use our FB over a 2 TE set when we want to pound the ball.

If Mariota progresses as I think he will, we keep him in manageable downs and distances, keep him upright, keep TOP and keep our D rested. With Mariota's ability to make quick decisions and scramble, our 3rd down and red zone % should improve quite a bit.

Give them a chance and let them play. Poutasi may turn out to be a very good player.

The stank on this fish is not going away- terrible situation to throw another rookie into! How this got this bad is fully on RW. Mary better buckle in tight when he puts his helmet on and drops back to pass. We do have some road graders, so maybe our running game can be a little fruitful (I mean with first RB overall taken in Sankey )

The worst part about this is if it looks like Webster got the Mariota pick right this season he's going to get more time.

Dude can't assemble an offensive line to save his life, or in this case his QB's life.

Been awhile since I've posted here... Honestly forgot my log-in credentials and drifted afar, shame on me. Like the make over though, totally different.

I agree with you about Webster, strictly on the group of OL-men as a unit. He's done the right thing for the most part by selecting and building it through the draft(minus Levitre/Oher). Lewan looks to be a stud, have you, that he doesn't have any setbacks. Also, before we pass judgement on Poutasi... Kid has upside to be a mauler and lock down the right side. Give him a season to get that technique down and we'll see.

Then of course, there is his poor (and scouts etc) judgement of interior OL-men. Warmack has yet to show consistency, Schwenkie hasn't shown that quickness, and well... as for Levitre... Couldn't have seen that coming. He's got age against him, so the mental part is slowing him down. Just can't get it right. As for Webster, seems to be a case of, "even a blind squirrel finds a nuts every once in awhile." (Lewan)

I can easily see any of the interior guys getting replaced... Still IMO, we're quite a few pieces away from having a solid line for this offense to stride with. All starts up front, while Mariota is athletic... He's got a lot of game process in his head, with such little time. He may not rattle easy, but this is an easy way for any QB to sense fear and become gun shy. Just sucks so bad to be in this situation with a rookie QB.

Yes you build it pieces at a time. The big piece of the puzzle is the QB. We got that . Now we build the rest. This was a 2-14 team last year. But not going to happen over night. However, this is a young team with some talent. The future is looking bright.
