I didn't blame Mett for his winless record. I didn't say he will never win ... Infact, I said I like Mett. Which is true, I like his POTENTIAL.

But that is all he has ever shown, is potential ... you (and a few others) are acting like if Mariota goes down Mett is going to come in and just start winning games for us. But there is NOTHING to base that off of. As of now, he is a young QB that has shown some potential. He hasn't proved he can be a full time starter in this league, he hasn't proved that he is the worlds greatest backup like some of you want to think.

 

If/when he cleans up the first 4, he'll get a few Ws to put at #5.
There will also be a few 4th qtr highlights, of which he has none now, which is the dead giveaway he struggles with #s 1&2.
By the time the 4th qtr rolled around in 2014 games, the DBs had him figured out, and could tell early where he wants to go with the ball.

He got away with it in college because of the quality of receivers he was throwing to, that were some of the best at winning the contested catch.
But he's had those problems (#1&2) forever.

 

Mett hasn't proved anything, so let's put all our faith in a qb that has two TO's in his one pre-season game......you guys are lost as.

 

Mariota looks shook to death in the pocket and can't throw deep.....maybe when he fixes those he'll be alright

 

So, which holds more proof, a pre-season and a season with 6 starts?
Or one quarter of one pre-season game?

And to say Mett hasn't proved anything is wrong. He's proven more negatives than positives, but they're still proof.

 

Really? A rookie in his first couple of series of his first NFL game looked a like he was in his first NFL game?

When you spend a top 2 pick on a guy, you have no choice but to put your faith in him.

 

His deep throws have looked fine to me.

 

In all fairness to both ZM & MM, it's not like either one has a 5 time pro-bowler to sit behind and learn from.
