I do agree with you that the two cant compare, pretty much more time is required for anyone to make an informed decision.

However, you show coaches those stat lines and some will say say hey this guy accounted for a TD, others will say even though the other guy has a INT with no TD technically he hasn't had a ball hit the ground even though one went to the other team. In other words, without knowing who the QBs are QB1 potentially may be more accurate. In today's NFL you always take the more accurate guy. Accuracy can cover up not having a strong arm especially when paired with anticipation. A strong arm, while great to have, can never cover up being inaccurate.

Just my view on this, either way like you said you can't compare the two on this night. I personally like our QB situation and was a Mett supporter in that I thought he needed more time. Glad we got Marcus too though. I was most impressed with that throw down the sideline to Andrews on the night. It's been a long time since we seen that throw made by a Titans QB and completed it.

First game for mariota, hes going to make some mistakes but let him make them now in preseason before the big games come up, love how Marcus responded on the sideline by laughing after both turnovers then goes 90 yards for a TD and finishes with 7-8 1 init and a fumble, not bad for a rookies first nfl game against the starters when they didn't even have a game plan going in and playing against that 4-3 def.

BTW Mett did the same thing as last year set records in preseason by playing good against 2nd & 3rd string players but once 1st string is on the field it would be different.

Plus that game mett had all the big people to throw to yeah DGB and hunters going to tear up 2nd - 3rd string defenders. Guess this might look as an excuse but it is true.

We need to have David Cobb as are starting RB, his run style is way better than Sankey and he actually pushes the pile other than getting 1 hand on Sankey and getting held back.

 

from what I saw last night MM had first game jitters got through it then played great ... His throws looked better then Metts.... Mett playe good also but it was preseason game 1 against 2 and 3rd stringers. We know what Mett is from playing last year... he throws a lot of 50/50 balls and will be a good backup for us

 

Exactly. Hunter is the same thing. He looks good tearing up those 2nd and 3rd stringers, but in real games he disappears

Mett has a huge advantage in preseason. He loves to throw those 50/50 balls, and in preseason guys like hunter and dgb will win most of those against 2nd/3rd string guys... but if you do this in reg season against the 1s then you will look like Jay Cutler

 

I think Mett is a borderline starter. He will always shine in preseason against backups but will have limited success as a starter.

If mett was on a team with a good OL and 2 big Wrs to throw to, then he would probably do fine
