If.mariota can look near as good in games as he has so far then well be good


Now let's just hope he's looking good cuz he is that good. Not cuz he's being coddled.

 

Don't think lebeau will coddle him. Everything sounds good. We heard wait till he gets to minicamp and let's see what he does, wait till he gets with veterans and see what he does, wait till they get pads on and see what he does, yes it's early but so far so good. Next preseason games.

 

When the Tennessee Titans made Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, much was made of how Mariota would transition from Oregon's "Quack Attack" spread to a more conventional offense.

Turns out that may have been much ado about nothing.

After watching Mariota work out with the team, Robert Klemko of The MMQB came away very impressed. "It can't be overstated how sharp Mariota looks in practice," Klemko said, "and that's before you get into a comparison with Mettenberger. Not even close."

 

Yea because he knows enough to identify the coverages. He's just smarter than most... that's what's going to allow him to succeed

 

He will make mistakes. Especially this year. I do believe Mariota is very likely our best QB in some time within a couple years though.

 

Peter King Logic: Yeah you need a QB in this league to be successful. Mariota will more than likely be good, the Titans have their QB. Titans will be last place.

That logic is sorta flawed. It all depends on the context when he says Mariota will more than likely be good.

Does he mean, Rookie good? Cause you can be a rookie and show flashes, look promising but your team can still suck cause you're not exactly doing anything to elevate the team. You just look good for a rookie cause you're not exactly doing anything to hurt the team either. I.e. - Your types like Derek Carr, Ryan Tannehill, etc.

Then you have guys like Luck, Wilson and even RGIII in their rookie years who came in, made big plays, elevated their teams and looked good regardless if it is a QBs rookie year or not.

If he means good as in the latter, then yes Peter Kings logic is flawed and he is an idiot.

 

Sounds like Mett is having a pretty decent camp! That's good to hear. Wouldn't be a bad thing if the Titans had two guys that could play that position and play it well.

 

but he's not, not thrown an INT
